The morning after and it's interesting that there's a move towards "they won, but . . ."

Coming from behind to win at the end against the Premiers may do more for our season than any of our other wins. It shows the team they can fight back and win. Big step up.

If anyone had told me at the beginning of the season that we'd beat the Hawks in Tassie, the Bombers at in Melbourne and the Cats twice in a row - both in Geelong and at the SCG I'd think we had a real shot at the Premiership. I know the up and down progress of the past two games has been a worry. But getting the wins without a dominant Goodes and Mumford gives us room for improvement.

Over at BF it seems that the Swans are below the Hawks and the Bombers in the run for the flag. I think we can be with Goodes' statement that the Swans can win a flag with the current team - and this could be the year. I think the players believe that and, as the season rolls on, I think more of us may fall in behind him. But (obviously) we have to keep winning - particularly R16 again the Eagles (here we go again!) and, even more importantly, the Pies in n R20. We can't seriously expect to win a GF if we go into it without beating the Pies. Then again, we didn't manage to beat the Crows much in the 2005/06 era.

It's the soft draw winning us games like the Victorian media has said over and over again this year.... (where is that lid I had earlier....?)

      I haven't seen/heard that anywhere.

Soft draw? We've beaten Hawthorn in Launceston and Essendon in Melbourne. What more do people want?

Good post, GS. IMO, the way we played for the first three quarters against Essendon and the first quarter last night is a sign that the team is starting to click under the Horse gameplan, but the fadeouts tell me we don't have the consistency yet. But you never know, there's still time to improve in the second half of the year. Granted, it's not the norm (for a team to improve significantly in the second half of the year as we did in 2005) but it is possible.

My big call for the year: if we don't beat Collingwood in Round 20 we can forget about making (let alone winning) a grand final. Still a long way to go before we even consider that possibility.

Doesn't matter, the twilight game today was a GF preview, apparently.
We may as well start tanking.
