A couple of the guys that I grew up playing footy with had varying levels of Swans memberships for their families (1 a full club, 1 3 match superpass thingy + probably came along to handful of other select games)- in both cases they were fans first and foremost of another club (1 Lions, 1 Bombers), but as the Swans were the only show in town they happily went along and supported them as their second team. Both live in Western Sydney and with the advent of the Giants they've now moved to being Giants fans and signed up for GWS full club memberships. I think it'd knock about 7 off the attendances between them.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

(1)We have lost members to GWS

      (2)Re-dev work does not help

(3)It was NOT cold on Friday

(4)Dogs crowd was poor , because , as WT notes , SOME Sydney fans don't like it when those nasty drops of water fall out of the sky.Just one look at the "Vents" page in mX shows that the city has a sizeable MINORITY of pampered, sensitive , shallow little darlings.

I'm not sure how many of you people (as members) realize how difficult it is to get a ticket the SCG for under $50 in the same week the game is on due to the construction.

As such any sudden impulse to go to the game has been destroyed as the only way you can go for $30 is to buy weeks in advance.

As a non-member this year I've managed to get to one game as I've been leaving it to the last minute to decide and have been priced out each time. The only time I went I had to pay $70 and only did as I was rocking a 2 for 1 voucher.

The lack of non-stupid prices for non-members has knifed attendance in the back.

Having said that it is working as am getting a 3 match pass for the 3 SCG games that are left (at reasonable hours)

Yeah GA sells out by most Tuesdays. I organize tickets for about 10 mates, and I am charging them $1 for handling fee (even though is only $25, it's at least $4 handling fee from Ticketek) which is still cheaper than them buying individually. Been caught out a couple of weeks and had to go to Gold but I was kind and ended up paying more and not bumped prices up too much. I also use that as an opportunity to tell them that if they go to a majority of games they'd save money as members lol

Transport out of the ground is a major problem at the SCG as well.

It costs an extra 5 bucks to get a return ticket on the bus and it's a bloody nightmare getting out of the place as well.

Last Friday night, I didn't get back to Central until 11pm and I didn't get back to the southern subs until 12;10am.

It's almost exclusively due to the construction. Friday night's crowd was great but that's about as good as it's going to get for the next two seasons I'm afraid. It'll require a lot of publicity and promotion after the renovations are finished to get the GA punter to understand that they can come back.

Unless we play more games at Homebush...

I parked near the ground in the back streets and had the best run out of Moore Park Precinct all year.

However, got stuck in the Harbour Tunnel behind the Hills Bus that broke down taking Swans supporters back to Caste Hill !!! Damn Swans crowd still finds a way to get you.

The $3:90 chips at SKODA are highly persuasive.

How many seats have been removed by the construction? If the drop in crowd figures is less than that number, we're doing well

I think about 15,000 went with the demolition of the MA Noble and Bradman Stands, GS.

For the casual fan, one-sided games or any other blowouts aren't that fun to be watch. The Adelaide and Geelong games were by far the most exciting to watch and the crowd numbers reflect that. That's pretty fair though!

With the ground re-development it means there are no GA tickets and therefore the appeal to pay $70 for Platinum tickets wouldn't be that high.

I would have thought Club membership would have been more important as those attendance figures don't give a break down of which ones are members and which ones are ticket purchasing.
There is GA it takes in Bays 13-17 and we RED Zone share those seats with GA. If they are sold out and we all turn up we have a chance of not getting a seat. We have the option of upgrading to Gold or Platinum. Doesn't that stink!
