I really think TDL should be involved next week. He has played many many games at this ground...his old home ground with Subiaco F C.....

After watching the WCE yesterday I would be inclined to play LRT in defence purely on the fact that their forward height was what got them over the line. Cox was the difference in the end with his forward line marking. His last quarter is as good as I have seen from anyone in a long time. He as good as willed that game over the line for them. We will need LRT's height down back.

It's funny west coast and Carlton are the two teams I would definitely play lrt - Kruezer has the really long arms but lack of pace that suits lrt. And playing on cox or lynch suits him as well. If he doesn't play on either I suspect he will only ever be seen as a last ditch defender.

Great point. We could definitely use him down back, with the aim of playing him on their resting ruckman.

Isn't it great to have someone as flexible and reliable as LRT in our team, his knockers are just a bonus

We have a very good win over a team that had recently found some winning form and we sit top of the ladder at the end of this round, but this thread is full of a lot of negativity or indifference about it (save a few posters). No wonder I dont come to this site very often any more. For those of you who can't see the many positives in last night's game, read this:

Didn't seem as negative to me as it has been. During the game there were a few stuff ups and you tend to react to that as it happens more than you would later.

Anyway, we played well for 2 1/2 quarters and there's little doubt the players were already thinking about next week in the 4th, but played the lock down game on Brisbane well enough at the same time, so that's ok. Generally a good performance from the team while it was great to see Reid kicking his 6. It was a compliment to him that Voss had to send Merritt back to close him down.

Thought that (after a dreadful first 15 mins) the boys were very good indeed against a team that may have been over-hyped (they were pretty dreadful weren't they?) but that didn't stop trying.

Didn't put them away as much as we'd like, but so much else was really very good indeed, you've got to be happy. Next week shaping up to be an absolute belter! Can't wait!!

EDIT: 2nd week in a row that McV has been absolutely outstanding - he's a very important link to our success at this point I'd say.

Sorry Stell I don't know if you were tyhere or not but in the first quarter I was wondering if Mal played for us or them. He certainly changed it up in the second and most of his disposals were top stuff.

That is really bitchy! But basically correct. Rich was doing as he wanted but in the second half they shut him down.

Sammy kicked one on Merritt and also gave a contest that allowed another so don't be so negative!

What was obvious with LRT, was how much better, and more comfortable, he looked when he went down back late in the game.
With Johnson seemingly hobbled....and WCE's tall forward line......IT"S TIME !!

I wouldn't call it lairising but some really poor decision making when under no pressure. I also thought our kicking to space a number of times was ordinary and often not to our advantage when a player had made huge space for the outside play.
Sometimes we totally ignored players who were surging. I will say this and I don't mean to demean Mal as he had a very good game but on several occasions when the Jetta run was con he intervened and stopped the play. Bloody frustrating! I thought that sometimes Mal was playing for Mal and not the team!!!! There were a couple of instances when the side would have benefited by him pulling the plug but he wouldn't!

I agree with others, there were many frustrating moments last night, including Malceski... for all his possies and good plays there were equal amounts of clangers.
I see it as a positive, that for all the stuff ups, we put them away with ease.
Finals are a long way away, no need to be peaking right now.
