I think the club cares, and would be disappointed, to say the least. Small home crowds hurt us financially.

The Noble, Bradman and Messenger Stands had 11,270 seats, so losing them while the redevelopment proceeds means that the overall capacity of the ground is reduced to 34,601. So we've got plenty of room for more people to come.

Even last year's biggest SCG crowd - 33,136 for the Hawthorn game - would fit. Hopefully that many will show up again this year.

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Although people will try to deny it, there's no doubt that the new team is affecting our attendances. Other factors are at play too, but an additional team in Sydney is having an impact on our levels of support...

Couldn't agree more GS, there always has to be a negative found.

Yep, same old again...seriously. I thought the crowd was good last night. Anyways...the club would not be disappointed. I think you forget that with the redevelopment, there are only say 10,000 tickets probably max available for sale after membership. It was probably not too far from being 'Sold out' yesterday but members did not turn up for holidays or whatever. The club still has their $$$ though.

                  Maybe it is.

But it's hard to believe that at this stage of the season, if one of the Melbourne clubs was playing for top spot, their supporters would not be out in force. And that goes for the WA and SA clubs too.

We don't seem to be as compelling in Sydney as we once were. Maybe the games against Collingwood and Hawthorn will get really big crowds. Here's hoping.

I was really surprised it was only 19+. There looked to be at least 3000 more than that in there to me. Those who were there made a hell of a lot of noise though. I was so glad Brown decided to pick on a bloke half his size because the game needed an anti-hero to rev us all up and he certainly delivered on that score.

Other than the renovations there are no excuses. The fixture list is out before the season starts so you can make your plans around the game times. 4.40 is a fantastic start time if you ask me, but I go whenever we're playing. I believe the GA was sold out again so that will have an effect.

In terms of people not being into the Swans, my friends and I had a bunch of people throughout the evening (we went out afterwards) come and ask how the Swans went. There's a lot of genuine "passive interest" out there but it doesn't translate into attendance. More people care about us than the dinosaurs would have you believe.

Waratahs vs. Brumbies game definitely took a couple of thousands off the crowd that was there yesterday. They had 22,844 at ANZ last night incorporated with the special guard of honour / march they had there before the game, it didn't surprise me the crowd was down at the SCG.

Add me to the list who thought there was more than 20,000 at the SCG last night though.

This is exactly why it is a "who cares" issue. Ga was apparently sold out again, so, as long as those that turn up are vocal. The actual attendance figure is of no consequence to the club.

The sad fact of the matter is the SCG pricing structure continues to cater towards the high end of town and corporates. I think you'll find GA was sold out and the empty seats were in the likes of the $60+ Brewongle and Churchill etc.

Also there was the Waratahs game which I know a lot of our fans go to, or at least can watch them both on TV by staying at home.

It is a dissappointing crowd but it looked OK given the reduced capacity.
