When GA is sold out, you have to take into account that ALL the members from the Noble and Ladies stand are now all placed in the Trumper which prior to the reconstruction, was the general admission area.
I have no idea on actual numbers, but lets say the Trumper holds 16000. That 16000 that was available as GA last season has now automatically lost the amount of seats sold to Red Zone members, lets say 8000, this season. That cuts down the amount of GA seating available by half as they HAVE to leave enough seats for the Red Zone members. They also have to leave a proportionate amount available for the 3 game members, which was why an email was sent to all 3 game members prior to the Geelong game requiring them to register their intention to attend.
This is my thoughts anyway on why GA has been sold out when there appears to be many vacant seats.

It looked to me more like a 23000-25000 crowd, but the atmosphere and noise was great so I don't know what the problem is.
It must be a very trying season this year for the club with all the issues the demolition has caused and particularly when it was sprung on them so suddenly.

I sit right up against the fence to the SCG members, and that space was practically empty. So I think the Swans support was pretty strong, but the rest were at the snow.

Well all of the RWO Brewongie crowd were there in force as I made sure I annoyed all of them.

The 1 hour break between reserves and the firsts is a bit excessive though especially when you're chasing the monkey with the welder.

However, always "hots up" once the main game starts.

I thought the crowd was larger on Saturday night and they were quite vocal for a change.

Amazing how much of the main stand they removed between Tuesday and Saturday. If they keep that rate up, there will be just a pile of rubble for the St Kilda game.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

I wouldn't worry as even if it gets a sniff of cold weather here people are either off to the snow or don't go out. The weather was pretty good on the weekend but the long term forecast was for rain and people in Sydney make their plans well ahead. They will be back as soon as we get a week of sunny weather! Yes, supporters in Sydney are fair weather supporters and you will more often than not find huge crowds in pubs watching the game in bad weather. The same goes for League supporters who are more likely to watch from the pub even in good weather. They just don't go!

Latest membership numbers are well up, over 32k now. I'm assuming this includes the 3 match and fortress memberships too (pet memberships as well?!) if every member attended then technically the venue should be packed out but I think it would also include interstate memberships too. Hopefully we can get to a position where most games at SCG sell out cos there aren't many free seats left (like at Subiaco)

It would be interesting to know the breakdown of our membership - how many in Sydney, the ACT, Melbourne, and everywhere else.

The website says we've got 33,019 members - a record. The last time published membership was over 30K was 2006.

Hopefully it bodes well for bumper crowds at the remaining Sydney games, especially Collingwood.

Pretty sure circa 10,000 of those are Melbourne (Victorian) memberships. Maybe even more.

Just seen @SwansSupport tweet that GA is sold out for the St Kilda game; Gold or Platy only remaining.

I still look forward to Cheer Squad's thread that evening complaining about the low sub 20K attendance

I think everyone would prefer to have a bigger crowd, even if GA is sold out. Members who can't go should offer their seat back to the club so it can be re-sold = more money for the club + better atmosphere at the ground. Can you do this for every game, or is it only done if it is looking like a sell-out?

I don't think that Sydney is ever going to be a club that gets 60-80k to games though. And it's not like the bad old days when Dale Lewis said if they kicked it out of bounds they had to jump the fence and get it themselves.
