Just a completely ridiculous conspiracy theory on my part. Make people think they won't be able to get a ticket so they rush out and buy one.
It will be interesting to see the official attendance Sunday night to prove or disprove my theory.

I agree. I've worked out whenever there is a chicken wing before the Tribunal that it always coincides with a low crowd at the Swans game that week.

I'm waiting for the first drumstick to see if it's a sellout now.

26,900 seems like a decent crowd. There seemed to be a lot of vacant seats still on the tv.

Really? At the game it seemed there were maybe 1,500 empty max. It was a very full crowd. I'm not sure what the current capacity of the SCG is, but it can't be over 30,000.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Despite the fact that I rolled in 10 mins into the game (couldn't drag myself away from those Italian beers at the Taphouse) there was no trouble getting two seats in the Red Zone.

Capacity at the ground is expected to be reduced from 45,000 to 34,000 at the height of construction.

I can't see how we could fit another 7,000 people in. I thought it was very close to a full house yesterday.

Agreed, looked as full as I've seen it all year at the ground yesterday (I missed the Cats game which was 27400). Would be nice to have some more concrete figures on current capacity. Surely they know how many seats they've taken out.

I thought it looked great on the teev.

A sea of red and white at one end and a sea of destruction at the other. I saw a few empty seats but in most shots (where the crowd was), it looked packed and sounded lively.

                          Well done Sydney.

I'm looking forward to a full house when the upgrade is complete. Although I am in the "I like Homebush" camp, I also hope the club negotiates home finals for the SCG when the current contract expires. With its expanded capacity, the place would absolutely rock when full of Swans fans.

I too was pretty chuffed with the crowd yesterday. The Trumper stand seemed pretty full which is always a good sign. Great atmosphere too - all in all a good day.

I too look forward to playing finals at the new and improved SCG and a capacity of 47,000 is more than enough to aim for. We will not need Homebush when the SCG is finished. Leave that precinct to the Giants, until they leave for Canberra anyway...

Can't say I agree. We drew more than 60,000 people to the Preliminary Final against Freo at Homebush a few years ago, and would draw a truly enormous crowd against Collingwood or Hawthorn, so I don't see why 48,000 is more than enough to aim for. Think big!

It seems people keep forgeting the agreement with ANZ.

Giants have just built a multi million dollar complex at Homebush, that's in addition to the one at Rooty Hill. Keep dreaming buit you may have a terrible nightmare in 10 years time. It will be a Giant one.

You hope the Swans will be able to draw a crowd over 48,000 then.
