    I've calmed down now.
What a fantastic win that was.
I would have been happy to have won by one ... smashing them was so much more satisfying.

Can't pick a best player ... the whole team played like they have suddenly "clicked".
Couldn't have happened at a better time of the year.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I thought the commentary was excellent and several levels above the dross Seven serves up in the west. Huddo's not as entertaining as Dennis but he's probably the best pure caller of the action on TV.

I have to agree with you. At least Huddo mostly calls the game as it unfolds. Listening to Roos and Alistair drone on with "tv in the loungeroom chat"and NOT call the game makes me appreciate him even more. Never thought I would say it and my tongue is sticking to the roof of my mouth, but I would perfer Huddo over Roos by about 1000%. sheesh.

Wash your mouth out! (It will stop your tongue sticking, if nothing else)

Roos does need to brush up on his manner. He just never seems excited by the game. When he gets into some analysis he's great, and his job isn't to call the game play-by-play, that is definitely the job of the likes of Huddo, BT (who is actually reasonable at that, just horrible at everything else), Bruce, etc. He's special comments, and that means taking a back-seat while play is happening and then breaking down the game during lulls. But he needs to show some enthusiasm. Really, he commentates in the exact same way he coached: looking/sounding bored.

He also needs to stop being so biased towards the Swans, but in fairness, the Swans are what he knows best, and he's still heavily involved with the club. Hopefully it will come. In the mean time, it's nice to have somebody who actually gives us the time of day in the commentary box, even if he does go a little overboard.

As for Huddo, he's great. I've never got why he's generally not liked. His enthusiasm is seriously contagious. Now that Dennis is a shadow of his former self, and Bruce has just become creepy, he's by far and away the best we've got. I still miss Clinton Grybas though.
Officially on the Reid and Sumner bandwagon!

Has Grybas become a better commentator since he died? I realise how insulting that is, but his rep seems to grow more now than when he was alive. I guess you really don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. Huddo is good value but I can't stand BT. I can only hear a grown man say "Woweeeee!" and "Oh boyy!!" so many times during a game before I want to claw my eardrums out.

BT actually made me laugh during the last round. I think he was sticking it to Richo about something, and quite cleverly!

Huddo is great in being a pro with a real enthusiasm for the game. Everyone agrees that Roos is too Swans-centric but I guess he's had 15-odd years with the club and unlike Melbourne ex-coaches and pundits, not much interaction with the other clubs. Also I think it's probably part of this coaching/teaching style to give specific examples to make his points, which is what infuriates all the non-Swans fans. HE definitely should cut back on the jokes though.
The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible news

Huddo is the ultimate pro. And let's not forget he gave us perhaps the sweetest commentary in Swans history: 'Nick Davis, NICK DAVIS ... I see it but I don't believe it!!!' etc etc. Deserves a place in all Swans hearts for his role in that piece of history!

All while being a passionate Cats fan. I dare any one of us to be able to say we would have delivered in our jobs like that - when his heart must have been pounding through his chest like everyone else at the SCG that night .... I'm happy to listen to him commentate for as long as he wants to.

Dwayne Russell generally captures the game pretty well too.

Bruce and Dennis are like the two old muppets (the 'real' ones from the tv show) who used to sit up on that balcony . . . old and creepy (as someone has said before). Dennis spends too much time now trying to contrive his too cute plays on words - which were much more enjoyable when they were impromptu and more natural. Roos has a solid rival in Mick 'Ultra Negative/Super Critical' Malthouse. Mick's bakes and criticisms of players in play are about as mean spirited as you can get.

BT easily worst commentator though. He just descends into blah blah blah at far too high a volume the longer games go on!

Fox crews 'drop waste all over' (using a polite euphemism) the Seven crews across the board. With exception of Lingy and Richo - they are pretty easy to listen to, and Richo just comes out with some pearlers that have to be enjoyed (still chuckling about his 'goal posts get thinner up high and cause players to miss goals' theory!)

I think he was just impossible to criticise. It's not that he was particularly mind-blowingly good, just that he was the consummate professional, called the game well, never went over the top or got annoying. I guess it's more of reflection of our current commentator stocks than any particular inflation or exaggeration of Grybas' legacy. Remember, when Grybas was around, Bruce hadn't quite gotten so annoying yet, and Cometti was still funny and hadn't yet bought his own hype. The loss is felt more keenly since that happened.

I gave up on the TV commentary when BT came on board. He is a shocker. The other guys like Matthews, Richo (seriously, what a drip) etc are predictable and boring. So I turn off the TV sound and play MMM. I love Luffy and Brad Seymour. The provide a real commentary and are genuinely not biased. Also, Luffy gets so excited he swears, which is kinda natural and normal.

                        Ditto.
Braddles and Luffy are fantastic at calling a totally non-biased game (well, almost non-biased, but we don't mind).

But what about the time lag between screen and sound? I found that even more annoying so I went back to the inanities.

Welcome aboard SFWA. Brother-in-law is driving trucks on some site near Karratha. He's also a mad Swannie but a shirker for not making the little trip down the road.
