    1. Goodes
    2. Mumford
    3. Kennedy
    4. Richards
    5. Jetta
    6. Jack
    7. Shaw
    8. Grundy
    9. Bolton
    10. O'Keefe
    11. Reid
    12. Hannebery
    13. Smith
    14. McVeigh
    15. Mattner
    16. Pyke
    17. Johnson
    18. Dennis-Lane
    19. Parker
    20. Malceski
    21. McGlynn
    22. Bird

Its all a bit random. I put Goodes at 1 because he's our traditional champion, Mumford at 2 because the game starts with the ruck. Malceski needs to maintain his form. I put TDL in so we have the grand total of 2 specialist forwards.

I reckon ROK should be much higher than most have placed him. Or at least, I think that the coaching panel would have him much higher. His versatility is something very valuable. I know some think 'versatile' means not overly good at any role, but I don't believe that applies to ROK. He can play onball with a largely negating brief (eg first half against West Coast where he kept Priddis quiet), onball with a licence to hunt the ball (eg second half against West Coast), as a target in the forward line, in a defensive role against a opposition half-back general (eg against Hodge a season or two ago where he also managed to kick 4 goals in the process) or as a hard-running outside flanker. He has also been switched back to be the spare man in defence a few times when Longmire has decided that is needed. I've yet to see him play in the ruck but I wouldn't put it past him. And despite being able to play each of these roles (well, maybe not in the ruck), he is also still more than capable of turning in BOG performances.

I'm not game enough to try and put all 22 players in order because it is too hard! But my top 5 would be Richards, ROK, Mumford, Kennedy and Goodes.

Can't criticize if you won't play! I think a few people failed to read the point of the thread.

Richards - no replacement that can put themselves in the right place at the right time like Teddy
Mumford - daylight between Mummy and next best ruck
Jetta - because every game needs more Jets
Johnson - important to defensive structure which would need to change if he was missing
Smith - locks down a dangerous small forward every week
Reid - hasn't really happened yet but defenders are genuinely concerned about Reid having his blowout game against them.
Goodes - team needs inspirational superstar leader, even when not in form
            Kennedy - clearance king
McVeigh - team needs inspirational workman like leader
Jack - inside, outside, upside down
ROK - engine room, higher up due to versatility
Bird - takes oppositions best player out of the game
Bolton - versatile hardnut, ahead of the young-uns due to value of steely glare
            Shaw - best defensive run
            Hanners - midfield engine,
Parker - midfield engine, seems a fair gap to the next bunch in the ressies
McGlynn - forward goal sneak, TDL could cover
Grundy - takes oppositions 1st or 2nd KPF, but could be replaced with LRT
            Mattner - defensive run,
Malceski - more defensive run, Armstrong covered adequately
Pyke - next best ruck, but plenty of backup, if Mummy not available would jump a dozen places higher
LRT - provides adequate cover for a number of key positions despite being most likely to get injured himself

                    Updated list:

                    25 Teddy

                    43 Mummy
                    48 Jack
                    49 Goodes
                    54 Jetstar
                    90 Jude
                    102 Pebbles
                    104 Reg
                    114 Reid
                    115 Hanners
                    116 Smiff
                    118 Shaw

                    148 Pyke
                    148 Bird
                    152 Parker

                    159 Marty
                    163 The Eski
                    169 The Hyphen
                    176 Benny

Looks like the top six is pretty defined. Four of Liz's five are there. I am surprised to see McGlynn at the bottom, a couple of years ago he would have been definite top ten.

Definitely our best 22 and pretty accurately ranked IMO, with Parker instead of Everritt. Personally I would have TDL instead of LRT. But that's just me

Don't forget a 3rd for defence! He's been playing that drop back defender role superbly this year.

Bloody tough task that I've been fiddling with for a couple of days. In the end I made the list in order of the most impact on our ability to win against the top sides if these players were missing. But like a lot of thing, girls you've "known", red wines, great Swans wins, there's often not much between players that you ranked 5 or 6 apart.

                            So here's my list

                            1. Richards
                            2. Kennedy
                            3. Mumford
                            4. Jetta
                            5. Jack
                            6. Goodes
                            7. O'Keefe
                            8. Shaw
                            9. Grundy
                            10. Mattner
                            11. McVeigh
                            12. Bolton
                            13. Reid
                            14. Hanneberry
                            15. Pyke
                            16. Smith
                            17. Parker
                            18. Johnson
                            19. Bird
                            20. TDL
                            21. LRT
                            22. McGlynn
                            23. Malces ..... ooops we don't get 23 do we?
