    He also needs to shark off Goodes (who was great at making a contest but was always outnumbered 2-1 to the Suns credit).
    Hard to shark off a player who the coach has given the whole forward line to himself. As far as I could see the plan was to isolate Goodes and get him one out but the Suns woke up to this really quickly and put two on him. Our coaching staff didn't react quickly enough and you are right TDL & the resting rover should have been crumbing . But I don't think it was TDL or resting rover's fault nobody was crumbing I think it was the game plan for Goodes to be given heaps of space and isolated. But Suns coaching staff reacted really well and double teamed him and ours didn't react quickly and get crumbers in there.

      I think Morton has improved in this regard over the last few weeks. The thing about goal sneaks is they are all a bit selfish. Tony Lockett would not give the ball to anyone if he was within 55 metres of goal. Stevie J doesn't often give off if he gets a sniff at a goal. Nor does Stevie Milne or Dane Swann. Buddy & Cyril are probably two of the most unselfish players going around even though they kick a lot of goals themselves but this is unusual for goal sneaks!

        This could be Morton's problem too. I havent seen him play, just been reading his stats.
        For comparison, Mortons best game for the tigers was a 28 disposal, 5 goal performance, in a team that only won 5 games that year. Do you think TDL could do that ?
        TDL got close he kicked 4 v Carlton in 2010.

          I was at the game and don't get to see many live games living in QLD these days, but I have to agree with the verdict on TDL. I'm a fan of his talent, but he always has a good look when there's a contested possession opportunity and I saw on one occasion where he pulled out of a hard to get ball in favour of tackling the opposition player going for it. I'd drop him for Morton now to give Morton some game time in the 1's before the Pies and the Hawks games.

            He had Harbrow, Warnock and Liam Patrick at different stages Saturday night and I wouldn't call any of them under developed. Patrick is a very built unit and really fast and TDL couldn't keep up with him but did end up corralling to earn a free for the side. So I don't think too much of his time was spent on under developed players. In fact I thought the Suns players quite built and there were only a few scrawny ones out there Brandon Matera and one or two others.

                I like TDL , especially his value for scoreboard pressure, hes such a dead eye dick in front of goal.

                    Longmire was interviewed over the phone on 360 tonight:

                    1. Reid out for 2 weeks;
                    2. Goodes will play Sunday;
                    3. Mummy could be back this week;
                    4. They asked him about Jesse and Jesse sounds like he has as much chance playing this weekend as King Hit Darcy has competing for a medal. Longmire said he didn't go well on the weekend and sounded very unimpressed with him:
                    5. Also spoke about how well Keiren is going.

                    Amazing how much tension there is on the show between Robbo and Huddo.
                    Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

                      Perhaps we need to look at this from a broader perspective? If we want to highlight individual stats we can probably make a case for just about anyone to be dropped or come in. If you think about our backline for a moment, they are often referred to as the "back 6". A team within a team. There are some games when Smith or Shaw or Johnson get low numbers, but they are judged as a unit. I think the TDL issue is similar, in that if all the marking (Reid, Goodes, Pike & LRT), crumbing (Jetta, Hanners, Jack, Mc Veigh), tackling and defensive pressure (Bolton, McGlynn, ROK) are applied by others, he is the finisher, the cream on on our forward 6. Tony armstrong has also been a solid performer for us but Everitt is a similar size and weight to Reid and can kick & mark.

                        Good to hear that they interviewed Longmire. I didn't catch 360 last night but they have generally been giving us plenty of credit even if they don't spend that long on us.

                        Longmire's quote in the SMH this morning strongly suggests that the only change will be Mummy in for Reid.

                          As likely as I think it will be Reid for Mummy also, we shouldn't read too much into a Monday night discussion. 6 days till game time, and there are always smoke and mirrors to a degree.

                          I personally hope we mess with their minds and then give them a flogging. Payback for last years effort down here.

                            Here's me thinking the Horse was also going to drop Ted, Kennedy and Jack!

                            In all seriousness, they NEED to select a back up forward shortly. Taller forward lines generally win finals. I'd bring in one of either Walsh, Morton, Spangher or White now and keep them in the side until Reid comes back. If we get another injury or two to either Mummy, Pyke, Goodes, LRT or Reid leading up to the finals, we need tried or proven back-ups rather than throwing them to the wolves in the finals.

                            Try one of them out this week. Stretch Carlton's smaller defence...

                              I prefer the option already suggested of Mummy to spend more time at FF and Goodes to find form with more time in the midfield/CHF.

                                A further point on the debate about TDL and his place in the 22. From the bit of replay I have seen, the 'kitten' definitely hasn't turned into a 'wild cat' yet. I doubt that he ever will and maybe Mitch Morton is never going to scrap and tackle like Gary Rohan either just as ND was never going to run up and down the ground like ROK.

                                My point is that they were recruited for their particular talents and skills and if the structures and game plan of the Swans can't accommodate their weaknesses along with their strengths you would think that their future with the Swans is a bit bleak. I am hopeful that this is not the case and that TDL gets a few games in the seniors right now so that he, the team and we can see whether he is going to fit in or not. Crunch time!
