Disappointing to lose when we had a good run with the umpires - skills fell down in the conditions which were tough for both sides - the positive was the opportunities we created

Let him kick goals as his No. 1 priority. He's been trained that his No.1 priority is defensive pressure and kicking goals is a bonus. It's OK with Reid and Rohan in the team, but there has to be flexibility when the forward line isn't working. The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

Though Mummys work around the ground was not bad.
I think we can play a lot better than that.Comment

Well for those of you complaining here, you shoiuld have been at the ground and dealt with the cold, wind and rain. Wasn't that a 70's group?
The Pies kicked 12 goals, 7 of those from our turnovers. End of story.
Up until that last quarter, it felt to me like we would win but I don't think you can blame a single person. Goodes missed but Pyke handballed when he should have kicked at goal etc etc.
The only funny bit was when the ground announcer said that LRT had been subbed when he was standing in the goal square. Poor chap got his hyphen's confused.
Cameron Mooney said recently that the Cats prefered to lose a game just before the finals so this was the loss we had to have.
I'd give Big Ted the B & F now.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

Simply lost our nerve. What was Kennedy thinking turning blind and kicking to the three pies. Pies didn't win we lost it, reminds me of the first half of the Hawks final last year -we went to water under pressure. Hope they are embarrassed and come out fighting and learn a very valuable lesson.Comment

That's due to my ability to say stuff...
If you're asking why I believe that, it's because, based on my experience I would be more confident in a win at the G, Football Park, or Subiaco to Homebush...
I know the money wants Hombush for the large number of Pies fans, but if you want a stint of losing to discontinue it's possible that you need to make those fans miss a seat. I know it's off topic, but, if you were to make a pies game at the SCG and not let any pies supporters in, it would be a capacity crowd and we'd enjoy all the advantages...Comment

Probably a reality check in many ways - our last win against a good side was in Rd 5 (West Coast were significantly undermanned so I don't think that counts). If we'd won by 2-3 goals it possibly wallpapers over cracks that need addressing, so better to face up to them now.
In the end we probably paid Collingwood too much respect, even with fewer I50's they have players who are actually dangerous forwards, and were able to also keep a forward structure.Comment

The idea of an egocentric goals-are-my-gift notion of a forward are gone. It seems to me that they are being trained to undertand that defense exists and, when you don't have the ball, is equally as important as finding space and being miraculous. TDL hasn't quite found the balance yet but note Jetta's change over the years (all be it not that many). I love to watch Jetta's run, the places he puts himself and I am no longer scared when the opposition has the ball around him. TDL has great forward smarts and can tackle well. He needs to make his brain think the two are as valuable as each other. I think he'll get there if given the chance...Comment

[QUOTE=DA_Swan;583461]I thought TDL looked hesitant tonight when he had the ball under pressure and it is the tackles you miss that count not the ones you are expected to make an dchase down - Goodes has the same problem with his lack of defensive .
Maybe it time to play some of the forwards we have like spanger/ walsh or mortan or all three would be better then what we had tonight. we must be the only side in the 8 that has no big forwadComment

Collingwood always seem more polished and structured than us. And having two tall marking forwards is an enormous bonus. We need to get our own forward line sorted out before we tackle Geelong and Hawthorn or we're doomed.
Defence was good again tonight, especially Ted. Some of our misses right in front of goal were heartbreakers.
Our annual loss against the Pies at the concrete jungle - seems almost inevitable now.Comment

We've got the best run home. With our position on the ladder we're going well, but we get to face the Pies, Hawks and Cats just before the finals. Win or lose we can learn alot...
Ted is definitely Super...Comment
