Interesting take on the affair by Robert Walls. My main disagreement with him is that I think one of the coach's jobs is to improve foot skills.
Malthouse a big risk as Blues err in axing Ratten
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I heard the Kernahan conference. Never heard so much drivel come out of one man's mouth in such a short time. Sounded it was all about Kernahan justifying his job in the shadow of the money men, just like when Knights was axed at Essendon. The reality about this club is that it is the biggest cheating club in the history of the game. They became the cheque book club when they couldn't win a flag and also rorted the "Form Four" system that preceded the salary cap. Peter Motley was signed by South on a form four but Carlton paid him to stay in Adelaide until the form four expired. Motley wasn't the only one.

So they caused the salary cap to be instigated then they go and rort that system. They got caught for a couple of rorts but more than rumour has it there were many more and had been doing it for ages. They copped it in the neck and rightly so. I and many others reckon they didn't get a big enough penalty.

They talk about injuries. Judd was a suspension and I have heard it quoted so many times over the last 2 days that this and the time Murphy was out cruelled their finals chances. The week before the GC game they flogged Essendon with these 2 players in and at the the top of their form. The reality is they both played against GC and were beaten by the 2nd bottom team who led them all game, and when Carlton meekly challenged in the last quarter GC put the foot on the peddle and easily held them. Injuries, what a crock.

I despise this mob and hope they stay in the bottom half of the ladder and am able to listen to the bleeding hearts for years to come.

      That's my take.

Couldn't agree more Nico. You can also add the fact that they voted to exterminate our club. May they forever be crap.

Now it's Malthouse v Wallsy! Going back to 1990.
?This might be a long bow and I hate to draw this, but there were three people in mind for the West Coast job?Wayne Schimmelbusch, Robert Walls and myself."

Boo bloody Hoo Mick. Where has his missus been for the past few months. As if she hasn't discussed the Carlton job with her spouse. And maybe she has some idea what goes with the territory. I guess the $1.25 million price tag might soothe her nerves and buy a few tissues.

Tom Harley got it right on TV on Sunday - the players lost the season, and Carlton became a basket-case club because they cheated by tanking and never re-learned how to win. He forgot to mention that their idiot captain should have resigned the captancy as soon as he got suspended for thuggery.

Mealy-mouthed Malthouse is a perfect fit for this club. Ego over integrity through and through.

I'm happy with the disarray at Carton. I hate their monied arrogance with a passion.

I'm hoping that Paul Roos isn't tempted out of coaching retirement to take the helm at Carton.

                  Mick Malthouse, a perfect fit.

It will be an interesting month as they try to sort out this mess, what do they do if Malthouse and Roos says no thanks? Be fantastic karma for sacking Ratten who I reckon did a good job with a list a bit like St.Kilda's, great at the top but falls away quickly and the last half dozen are not up to it.

Carton - you deserve all you get!

Just read a cracker in Inside Footy, the headline the sub editors missed -

                    Sinking ship deserts Ratts!

Chuckled for some time over that one :-)
