i hadnt noticed that before ... but it seems a pretty sharp analysis to me

I've said that since I first saw it. Three players went to Davis and left the door open for Monty to slip in for the goal.

His tackle a bit later on Judd was just as good.

7mins to go and he kicks the match winner. Says it all for that game!

Best of luck Monty and thanks for the memories!

Apparently he's settling in Sydney, maybe he'll end up at one of the NEAFL or Sydney AFL clubs?

And the spoil on Fletcher(?) from the WCE kickout, knocking the ball OOB for another stoppage in the 4th qtr.

I truly believe he would have won the Norm Smith if the judges didn't have to make their choice with 10 minutes to go (or thereabouts). It would have been a joke if the Swans kicked a last minute goal to go back to back in 2006 as Embley still would have won the Normie...

Best of luck Amon, and thanks for your part in the flag.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

About 5:20 in on the video below. Just watching that video made me realise how good a goal that goal before it from Big Bad Barry was. A pressure kick if there ever was one.

Good luck after footy Monty! You certainly will never be forgotten by any member of the Red and White faithful. The man that kicked the goal that broke our 72 year premiership drought. That is a story to tell for the ages
wow, seven years later and watching that video still brings me so much joy! (and a tear to the eye)

This doesn't have anything to do with the champion that is buchanen and I know all is done and dusted now and the result was correct in the end, but every time I watch highlights of the 05 GF I'm always dumbfounded as to how Cox was allowed to push Jolly in the back to put the ball back in, in the dying seconds, is it just me who thinks its a free to Jolly?

For shame Swanno. You're not allowed to say that (however correct it might be). For if that free had been paid, we would have had a relatively sedate end to a great GF, rather than the mark of the century!

Y'know, something just occurred to me watching that. That last mark by Leo Barry was actually pretty good.

Judd pushed Jude Bolton in the back as he was running in to kick a sideways goal in the last Q. Pushed him just as he was kicking and it went for a point or OOB on the full. It was at that time when the umpires were still in awe of Judd and he could do no wrong. Not just umpires but commentators. It makes my blood boil every time I remember he got the Norm Smith. Should have gone to Fosdike, LRT or Amon.

He was in business with Jude some years ago. Besides, this IS Sydney, and why would you live anywhere else! Nice to know the Hobbit is heading home.

Any Canberra based Swannies looking for something to do on Saturday at lunchtime, the word is Buchanan is expected to line up one last time for the Lions Reserves against Queanbeayan in the NEAFL Grand Grand Final. I might head out for a look if I'm in a good mood after Friday night!
