Match Thread Qualifying Final - Adelaide vs Sydney

Game gets under way in six hours from now. Even here in NY I'm feeling nervous and have been counting down the hours.

We have to win this, and I'm tipping us between 20 and 24 points.

There will be a bite in the air then. In Adelaide with the West Lakes wind 16 degrees will probably feel like 5. It will be chilly out there and until the players, no matter which side, get warmed up they will all make mistakes, handling errors. The ball is going to sting a bit. It is like an ice theme park when the wind blows on West Lakes. Might be interesting if the wind is a Southerly, if winning the toss kick against the wind in the first. At West Lakes the wind will not change direction if it is a Southerly it will only get stronger as the day goes on.

Off to a friends place for a housewarming lunch.... going to spend the whole 2 1/2 hours or so nervous as all hell thinking about this afternoons game. Bring on the Crows - time for the Bloods to stand up, be counted and show us what they are made of

You might get away with a neck to knee ensemble - eye catching at any time of year ;-)

Can't wait for the game, the boys need to get a good start to keep the ferals quite . Reid needs a early goal & the mids need first use of the ball. GO SWANNIES.

Hope we win the toss Woodie as it is better to kick against the wind in the first at Footy Park. The longer the day goes on the stronger the wind gets. We don't want to kick long against an West Lakes gale. The wind speed is between 20 & 30 k/h now so later in the day it will be around 40-60k/h. Best to come home in the last with the wind when the legs are a bit tired as you have to work a bit less.

Against the wind at Footy Park; kick to position like the Hawks do and we do it very well too. I just wish we would do it more often. DO NOT BOMB HIGH! There is no point in wasting a high ball into the wind at Footy Park as it won't go far and you have a very good chance of losing control of the footy. While the wind swirls a bit the Northern end is generally favoured by the wind.

I had forgotten one of the best things about walking around Adelaide wearing Swans gear on a finals gameday - whichever team we are playing, you can guarantee a number of the locals will walk up to you and shout "Go Bloods" with the same enthusiasm as if they were actually a Swans fan.

Trying to stay occupied with housework..... am nervous but confident, only 2 hours to go.

Agree with Wolftone about the high ball, it needs to be shelved today.

My reading of the weather map is that the wind will diminish over the course of the game! The isobars are getting further apart.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!
