LOL, the old match-day thread is always a goldmine of funny posts typed out in the heat of battle. This was a ripper...

How the match was won
Interesting game analysis by Adrian Fletcher, a Lions assistant coach.
The Swans slowed the Crows' fast exits from stoppages by sending in dangerous forwards Goodes and Lewis Jetta, knowing the Adelaide defenders would follow.
This was exactly what the Swans wanted, as this created density around the stoppage, making it hard to get the ball out cleanly. The Swans dismantled the Crows' fast style by keeping possession of the football with short kicks or, when no free target was available, kicking it long down the line where it would go out of bounds. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

I have to say those interstate (SA and WA) finals wins come with a boos and hisses laden sound track. Much like Subi in 06, the sound of moaning home fans brought a smile to my dial.Things to bring a smile:
- our half time score beat their full time score
- achieving a home prelim after last two weeks of regular season = mental toughness at the very top of whatever scale measures such things
- a week is a long time in football! Saturday 1 September: Cats 112, Swans 78. Saturday 8 September: Cats out, Swans straight through to home prelim!
- Swans back six. How good are they?!?!?
- LRT
- Friday night prelim coming up (thank you ANZ/NRL) = short break for winner Pies/Eagles, then extra day break leading into the Grannie (assuming all goes to plan)
- Friday night prelim coming up = can attend friend's 40th on the Saturday night and not miss the game (and ideally be looking forward the last Saturday in September with much anticipation)!Comment

Great day. Perfect in fact. I was in bay 122 with a bunch of Swans fans - we made plenty of noise.
We didn't have a passenger in my opinion. Hope to watch a replay tonight.Bloods

Glad you pointed this out Nico. We were travelling for the first half, had the radio on, not much about Rhyce. Arrived home, put the 3rd Q on and the three errors were the first touches we actually saw. With the chance to see some highlights I could fill out the picture and arrive at a fairer estimate. I like Rhyce and I'm glad we got him, adds pace and hardness.More stats: 74% efficiency (team 72%) 3 clangers, 2 tackles. 76% ground time. Not bad stats for 3 quarters of footy. Saw the replay this morning and he did have a patch where 3 disposals didn't hit the mark. A handball I think to Bolton went to the right place but bounced sideways and 2 kicks didn't hit players on the chest but they didn't hurt us. Had an OOB on the full in the last quarter. What stats don't show is his work in close; holding, smothering, blocking, holding the ball in and harrassing. Pretty good game I reckon. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment
