If it helps, I've booked airfares for the following Friday to Melbourne.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I think what will be even more helpful is that I haven't - we're certainties this Friday now

I'm too superstitious to do that. So I'll end up driving or riding if we win on Friday. Headphones on the bike, listening to SEN endlessly on about the Swans, our players moving into AFL legend status, road to the MCG for the last Saturday in September - all is good.

Yep, I'm with you on this one, though I must confess to having booked accommodation, albeit one with a cancellation policy!

I will hopefully be booking flights from Maroochydore (or Brisbane) to Melbourne as soon as I get back to my parents' place in Sydney after Friday's game.

I am driving up the Hume Hwy tomorrow for the prelim which I am attending with my oldest daughter (who lives in Sydney with her mother - it's a long story). The missus and my younger kids fly into Sydney on Saturday night before we all head for the Sunshine Coast (by car) on Sunday (school holidays).

Should we have a date with destiny at the MCG on October 29, I will be abandoning them all in Queensland next Friday for a few days while I cherish a rare footy fan's moment.

Flights from Maroochydore to Melbourne are already near $400 so it could get expensive if I get a platinum in the ballot but I wouldn't miss a red and white grand final for the world.

Fortunately, it is all being done with the blessing of my partner and kids. We are a red and white family and they are glad we will be represented (fingers crossed) at the big one.

Also yeah I too am annoyed at our lack of passion sometimes. It always warms my heart when I see images like that at the SCG vs Hawthorn this year; heaps of people screaming bloody murder at the umps for those horrible decisions. Some people hate it and call it unclassy... I call it passion and dedication. These kind of things give the team more of an advantage..... as we see constqntly in West Coke games.
We've (the Cheersquad) have got some new chants mapped out for Friday.

BUT there is a catch. They will only work with the support of the crowd. So if you hear is start up a chant, please JOIN IN. Let's get it flowing all the way round to the other end of the ground and drown out the toothless squad.

                    Every voice helps

Please work hard to get the "Hey Jude" sing-along going at an appropriate moment. Maybe just before the game starts (this may serve to fire up the boys)? Or after he kicks his third goal? And certainly at the end of the game when we have won and he is being chaired off by his team-mates.

I will be just a bay away from you guys and will be one of the first to add my voice to chants.

A big responsibility for the cheer squad on Friday night but you guys never let us down.

Thanks Swansongster. We appreciate all the help we can get.

BTW. Hey Jude. Is lined up for ALL of Jude's goals.

We want to get the SYYYYYYYYDDDDDDNNNNNEEEEEEYYYYYY chant (that Collingwood stole from us mind you) going before the first bounce. So spread the word.

If you write down any of the new chants here you'll at least be spreading the word. Perhaps a 'Official Duties for Everybody Going on Friday' thread. Number 1 rule: Cheer hard or go home!

Let's make the place a cauldron.

The Hey Jude idea is fanTAStic - can't wait to hear it from the crowd.
                            And go SYYYYYDNEEEEEEEYYYYYYY!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

NAAA NA NA NANA NAAA, NANA NAAA HEY JUDE!

It can also be easily appropriated on the night to:

NAAA NA NA NANA NAAA, NANA NAAA SYD-NEY!

Given the circumstances of the match, and my strong belief that the SYDDD-NEEY chant is for special occasions and shouldn't be artificially started I would love if you used the Hey Jude Sydney version before the first bounce.

I hope Dawes and Didak play. Looking unlikely for Didak given he didn't train.

Carrying injured players rarely pays off. Might not be any worse but I highly doubt they will be any better than last week. A forced early sub change would be wonderful.

I'll tell you what if the Pies get up given everything that is going on with them at their Club this week - including now Eade possibly leaving to be Port Coach after he was rumoured to meet with them last night - then they would have done an almighty job.

Take hold of the match you Bloods!! It's yours to take.
