I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

If there is one thing I've learned about the match committee this year, it is that they are incredibly conservative. Whilst I'm not against throwing AJ forward, I seriously doubt the MC is going to pull that rabbit out of the hat.
Really it might be as simple of playing Goodes in the middle for a greater period of time. I'm not particualrly enamored myself about a very tall forward line becasue we are the lowest marking team in the competition, I believe. At our best we have runners streaming forward kicking goals out of stoppages or through transition play. That, and the fact that games against Collingwood are always great battles in the middle, lead me to believe that Parker is strongly being considered to be a part of the 21, but let's see.Comment

AJ makes me happy in defence. I would not like to see him as the sub or playing forward when he hasn't done so for 2 years.
Level head, quick, reads the ball beautifully, attacks, backs up his defensive hombres, plays through pain.
You can count his poor games on one hand and not use all your fingers IMHO.
I want the experience of these high pressure games for our youngsters. Particularly if we are going to take on Hawks next week.Comment

I don't really understand the concern over AJ, he's a beauty.
He can occasionally be a slowish starter, but I've NEVER seen him drop his bundle and invariably steadies to play out a great game. Personally I think that is an excellent sign. In years to come I'm tipping he is going to be a big game performer...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

I'd guess we'd start three talls forward with usual structure - Mal the sub - run defenders around keeping MM near goal and Goodes on the wing. Baring injury or blow out against us sub a tall and Mal to the wing to spot up targets in the last quarter.
Like seeing Reid near the stoppages - such quick hands for someone his size.Comment

Quote from AFL web site.
Kevin Sheehan says: Alex is a tall defender/forward with an outstanding work rate and competitive edge. He provides excellent defensive pressure when playing forward. He represented Vic Metro at the under-18 championships this year.RED & WHITE - IT'S IN THE BLOODComment

Interesting to see MM named on ground. Structurally that means Grundy in for LRT, LRT in for Walsh. Parker odds on to be sub. Emergency choice was interesting, two forwards and a defender. (For those who missed it - TDL, Walsh and Armstrong)Today's a draft of your epitaphComment
