Jolly wont back up 2 weeks in a row. He played his GF last week. He will be finished by 3qtr time. Reality is we still need to win the ball out of the middle regardless of who gets the tap.

I think we need to have a fresh Mummy for the 4th qtr and push him up the ground.

I really see the finall qtr as our qtr. If we apply pressure from the outset they will tire. Its rare a team can back up the tackling pressure they applied last Weekend. 4 qtrs from us and see you in the GF. This is our moment if we want it.

Never a fan either. Apparently he was the one who dobbed in Swan leading to his 2 match ban.

Two ways you can look at that:

        1. He is a driven player and demands the best from himself and his teammates in the hope of achieving excellence.

        2. He's a @@@@@.

I hope working him over is a facet of their play. With Dawes likely gone he's got a lot of work to do against two good ruckman.

Interesting little story on Jolly via the Daily Telegraph site in the context of this thread - to paraphrase - Pike being a little speed bump that will be using everything Jolly has taught him.

Despite the recent kerfuffle here, he really is a very unlikeable man -

            Jolly (on Pyke):

"He never gives up. He is not the most talented player in the league, but the most important thing is that he has a crack.

"All the things I taught him, he will be using. I am looking forward to playing against him and Mummy and I hope to get the job done.

"It adds another dimension to Sydney's game and helps them out. But it is just another little speed bump for us to get over."

What is so unlikeable about what he said? He simply stated a fact. We all love Pykey on here but he simply is not the most talented player around, but he gives us what we need - a backup for Mummy that can admirably help out around the ground.
Did you expect Jolly to come out and say " Goodness me Mumford and Pyke are unbeatable, I'm staying in Melbourne cowering in a corner"? Of course he's going to say something like we are a speed bump because in Collingwoods eyes, WE ARE.
I have never heard Darren Jolly say a disparaging remark about our club (including that article), every time I have seen or heard him interviewed he has always spoken fondly and with much respect about the Swans, their players and staff, unlike a much beloved (by many on here anyway) ex captain of this club.
Yes he wanted to go back to Melbourne and yes he stated what club he wanted to go to, but without said demands there would be no Lewis Jetta, a compensation we never got for aforementioned beloved ex captain. It might also help to remember that the deal with Collingwood was only done AFTER we secured Mummy so he owes us nothing. He is in fact a very nice man that loves his wife and family more than football, a fact he never hid.
Having said all that I'd like Pyke and Mummy to bury him on Friday also, but only because he is wearing a black and white guernsey and not because of how rude and insulting he's been toward us because he hasn't.

So if a Hawks player said that Adelaide is just speed bump on the way to their rightful GRand Final and Premiership, that wouldn't be seen as arrogant. Or last year when he effectively said that it was amazing to play at a really important AFL club after years at the Swans wasn't dissing the Swans?

And this is a perennial Jolly style. After the 2005 Premiership I asked him how glad he was to leave the Melbourne Dees and he replied "What's Melbourne". He isn't remembered fondly at the club, either. The players didn't object to him being distracted with the birth of his baby but they did that he was very distracted and texting and talking about the baby when they were trying to concentrate on the task at hand - winning the 2006 GF.

Is Jolly's wife having a baby this week by chance?
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I think he was referring to it was just another 'little speed bump' in the overall scheme of things that the Ferals would have to do to win the game - not that the Swans were a 'little speed bump'
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."

I do see where your coming from, I just don't see anything wrong with it. We are a speed bump to Collingwood playing in the GF just as they are the speed bump we have to get over.
He doesn't speak well of Melbourne or Neil Daniher as a coach but ask him why and he will tell you, he is a very straight shooter, but there are many articles that he has acknowledged that he is only the player he is today because of Sydney, Paul Roos and our culture. I won't make a comment about the child birth and texts as many would construe it as in bad taste, but just re read what you wrote about the birth of his child and think about what it means to become a father, no matter if for the first or forty first time. And one Mr Hall can shoulder a fair amount of blame for the 2006 loss, Jolly was also injured two days before that game remember.
I don't know what his contract status was at the time, but he could have very easily hung around here until his contract was up and then do a Luke Ball, but he didn't, he told Roos and co what he wanted and they managed to secure a deal that was a win/win for both clubs, I just don't understand the bad feelings toward him, he is not an arrogant man, he is a particularly nice, decent fellow.

I try to excuse a lot of his behaviour on the basis that he's not very bright but he continually manages to say something dumb that pushes my buttons.

It was only last weekend that I learned of the other players' disdain for him for what they saw was a lack of focus on what the rest of them were regarding as quite an important day. But maybe I should just take that as another sign of a bloke that can't hold two thoughts in his head at the same time.
