Robbo and Gerard closed the show ,AFL 360 (?) both still saying that the best team lost.
You can win the GF but they still don't give credit.

There's a reason that the poos and wees are generally termed "tossers".
Any more up themselves and they'd fall pregnant.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

The free missed to Mummy was a howler. 3 bites of the cherry and being held down. Strewth thats why he couldn't hold on to the footy. And what about the holding of Goodes by Gibson in the goalsquare in the last quarter. Goodes was trying to move the footy but Gibson held onto him and dragged him to the ground.

Some tool rang up the radio today and whinged about the free down the ground to us when Rioli pushed Jetta way after he kicked, yet one to Hawthorn wasn't paid that would have been in the square. Bartlett said it was a bad call. Martin Blake said but the free kick count was 21 to 10...swings and roundabouts mate.

On the replay the umpire immediately called as he kicked. If you want to split hairs it may have been a fraction of a second after the ball left the foot. The umpire saw it differently and was right on the spot.

It was a sight to behold sonny - the boys banged it in there all day long, and the superstar forward of the day kicked the stuffing out of the ball. He kicked it a mile every time, and if the goal posts had been set across three bays rather than just half of one, he'd have kicked 9 straight!

And the centre hit outs - geez - you should have seen them! 19-5 they won them! Smashed it out of the centre time after time . . . was a thing to warm any old ruckman's heart (not that I really give a fig for ruckmen). Then there were the clearances - they won those by 23. 23! Amazing. AMAZING I tell you! And the contested footy - won that by 26. Big, strong and tough they were. And the free kicks - we won those as well! Umpire Stevic was seeing the frees like tennis balls and just about blew the pea out of his whistle! 21-10 we won those! I seem to recall the Crows spruiking a 19th man membership drive that year, but we had a far better 19th man set up that day!

And his grand kiddie says "Gee, they all sound like really REALLY interesting numbers Grandpa, but what was the score? How many GOALS did we win by? And where is the replica cup on your mantelpiece? Surely we won the game, didn't we? It sounds like we were just about perfect that day . . . it must have been great to be there!"

And Dermie says "The score?!?! I don't remember the score?!?! Who CARES about the score!!!! We won the clearances, the contested possessions, the inside 50's . . . isn't that enough?!?!?

To which his grand kiddie says "Nup Grandpa, I don't think so. I really don't think so, and I think I like the 2008 Hawks better."
How about ... To which his grand kiddie says "Nup Grandpa, I think I like the 2012 Swans better. Didn't you know I've been a Swans supporter since they won 4 GFs in a row in the 2020s?"

I remember after we beat Geelong earlier in the year, a caller on SEN asked Dermie what do we have to do for him to start respecting the swans. His response was..."When you win the big one". Hasn't helped obviously!

A bit rich coming from someone who probably thought that running the ball through your own goal 11 times (v Geelong in 2008 GF) was an honourable way to play football...

They were lucky to win in 2008, We just had bigger tickers in 2012.

Leaving aside all the "Family Club" nonsense they used to go on with, they have always been an unscrupulous bunch and success at any cost is there credo.
I particularly like the BS explanation they give as to why they traded Joey. All this guff about a surfeit of similar sized midfielders, what a lot of twaddle. They sold him to us because they had a colossal hard-on for Shaun Burgoyne (and Gibson).
The ditched a heritage player to chase another clubs best player, and the whole things backfired. Sounds more like poetic justice.

They can read all the stats they like. The fact was that we were better for longer.

I dont know the exact stat but one really really important thing was they had a lot of shots (including goals ) from outside 50 whereas we kicked a lot of goals within 15 metres of the goals where it is far easier to score - consider - mcveigh, jack, morton , goodes, malcesk etc. It doesnt require as much accuracy in that close.

In contrast, the stuff from Buckley on the Swans GF win and the team culture is surprisingly good. Pretty honest and thought out. The chat on Alex Johnson I thought was spot on and I thought his game was probably missed by most commentators/players ratings I have seen.

I heard that and he was very condescending and was indignant that someone would question his dribble. Good as told the caller to piss off.

Not to mention the unsociable football that saw Mitchell kneeing players in the thigh at centre bounces. By the way that flog Brereton ran the chorus calling for Hodge to replace Mitchell as captain because he was the soul of the club etc etc etc. He went on adnausium for ages. IIRC Mitchell was captain in 2008 and Hodge hasn't delivered a flag as yet and Mitchell has been the better performer.
