The biggest hazard to your health I have encountered so far is the fish. It comes just warm to cols with cold chips and everyone knows the bacterial problems with cooked fish that has been allowed to go cool or cold in a Bain-marie. The pies, Hoar & Plenty, are dreadful, the chips taste like cardboard (yes I tried it as a child), there are very few choices and all are dreadful. I don't know who the caterer is but I would love to get the Health Officer out to test if they are heating their food to the required temp NOT!!!! There would be a few million in fines just waiting to happen for the council.

We still do that, but you need to pre-heat the thermos and make sure you have the wide neck variety with small tongs. We learned as we went along. One day I took my two daughters to the Dome and it cost us as much in food as it did to get into the game. Never again. We always take our own these days.

I went to a NY Giants game a couple of months ago and the choice and quality was amazeballs. For example sushi made on the spot, gourmet pizzas (eg pear and gorgonzola), old school real burgers, belgian beers on tap, fish and chips etc.

The one time last year I went to Skoda stadium to watch our cross city cousins get belted, the food and drinks were still exponentially better than the mid strength rubbish beer and stale mini pizzas that is served up at the SCG.

Ok so how do we change it? How do we get edible food at the footy?

Vote in the end of year survey. Facebook. I think RWO is a lot more powerful than we think. We (RWOers) aren't just casuals, we're pretty passionate Swans fans. We're the people that will go 11 times in the season. The venues should be trying to satisfy our every want and need (that is good business, consumerism, everything from column A). They should be doing their darnedest to make us spend every hard-earned penny and not really give us a choice (i.e. in-house options *so* good that the thought of bringing our own makes us feel bad) to purchase elsewhere/next door at Coles/Woolies.

We can only be heard when we speak up!!!!

Have not bought any food from a stadium(MCG, Etihad, AAMI park, SCG, ANZ stadium, Skilled Stadium, Metricon stadium......thats everywhere I've been) for a looooooong time now.

Food is always crap and expensive. Always eat at a decent place with friends before the game, if we're gonna spend money, we may as well eat well.

Have purchased beer many times, but no food since the 90's.

Lease the licences to individual franchisees or cateres. Maximum number of outlets per company. Encourage competition between providers and different types of food/drink. The more options you have to choose from, the better the choice should be. Try going to a baseball stadium in the US for comparison - it'll make you weep at how good it is.

That is exactly how it is done, trouble is the club have no control. The scg trust control the stadium and take the easy option of one catering contract.

Bingo, this is exactly what happens. A company called Delaware North have the contract for the whole shebang, SCG and SFS, absolutely nothing the Swans can do about it.

i worked hospitality for many years and the reason the contract is awarded to one contractor is because then there is no blurring of the boundaries. Someone suggested giving different parts of the ground to different contractors, while this is a good idea for the fans ie; maybe better food it would be very difficult from an administration point of view. The trick is to lobby the existing contractor who I would suggest has a long term contract (they normally have 5-10year contracts), to provide better, healthier, non food poisoning options. This can be done by several different methods; Getting all fans to sign a petition, direct Online lobbying, lobby the CA, lobby the Swans, go Viral and create an anti caterer campaign or line or go to the press with a petition.

I realise that the Swans have no control over it, I was just answering the question. I'm sure the club would do something about it if they could (at least I'd like to hope so!)

I wonder if the SCG management could match this news. It doesn't address the quality but at least the pricing is better.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
