Any father/parent who wouldn't be happy packing their child up and off to Sydney and the current regime should come under the radar of DOCS.

It's not like he could stay at home and play at a Melbourne club anyway, I doubt he'd be commuting from the farm.

He must really be harboring a grudge if the story rings true...

AnthonyD reported very positive feelings about the Swans in an interview a while back . . . . but he still sent both his sons to Essendon. So perhaps the fathers feelings aren't everything?

I bet he wishes Joe was at the Swans right now!

We only want players who want to play for our great club. If Dunkley Jnr doesn't want to play for us then all the best for your career but we don't want you.

Very sad to see Dunks isnt over being let go by the swans.You wonder if his son is made of the right stuff anyway after being brought up by a man who cant let go after all this time,seems very childish to me and if any of that has rubbed off on jnr he is better off elsewhere.

To clarify.....Andrew went to the game but not down to the rooms afterwards....his sons Josh and Kyle went down to the rooms. Does a youngster just think "Gee whiz how good would it be to be one of this mob?" or does he go "Gee, maybe I should go somewhere I can get a kick!"

I thought and I may be wrong that Dunkley and Kelly played their last game at Homebush before Roos had been appointed, in the game where the players supposedly showed their support for Roos over Terry Wallace

Disappointing that Andrew feels the way he does after being a cult figure at the club during its resurrection period.

You would hope that his sons would accept a F/S offer if it was made. That way you go to a much admired club that is in the finals mix now and looks to have a bright future.

Go into the draft and you could go far away from home to Perth x 2, Adelaide x 2, Brisbane & Gold Coast, GWS, Western Bulldogs, Tankers, Injectors, St.Kilda. So that's 11 clubs you wouldn't want to go to and you've knocked back the Swans so a one in three chance of getting drafted by a "good" Melbourne club. Not good odds. How about if you take your chances and end up at Poor Power! Bzzzzzzzzzz, think I'll go to the Swans :-)

Seems hard to believe he would still hold a lot of ill feelings toward the club...after all, dodgy knee, slow, old and couldn't kick, no other club felt he was worth recruiting for a year or 2...

I get the feeling his beef is personal....with the obvious suspect being Roos...

Swans would do well to keep Roos right out of the picture when it comes to home visits, billeting arrangements etc.

And what ever they do..... don't give BBBs contact details to the Dunkleys.

I have to admit that I'm with those who think it's not that sensationalist, really.

Disappointing to hear, though, assuming there's some truth to it. Father Son picks really can be a bit of a free kick and if he's a big lad that's already played senior footy in a decent comp and been a leader at state level it would be nice if it was all pretty much a forgone conclusion.

I disagree with father/sons being a free kick these days. They probably were in the early days. Then the AFL tried to fix the inequality by increasing the games limit to 100, and when that didn't work they adopted the bidding system.

Since then days clubs tend to pay close to market value: We payed a first rounder for young Mitchell, as did the Bummers for Daniher version 2.1

Unfortunatly when the bidding system solved the problem they didn't put the games requirement back to what it had been. It may be too strong a word, but the AFL effectively "disenfranched" some father/son kids.
