And the apostrophe in typos? Still, not bad for 3am!

This was my favourite brand of whinging after the event... 'But McVeigh was moving!' - as if Sam Mitchell of all people can't hit a moving target.

Even Dermie admitted on the SEN commentary that the Swans were playing the better football overall in the last quarter, it was around the time we were starting to regain the ascendancy before Hanners' goal.

The weird thing is the 'ex' club - the former champs etc- went on a big hard luck whinge full of lucky swans and if only.

Maybe they should take note of Clarkson and Hodge, who were both very generous afterwards in recognising us as deserved winners.

I happen to know after the match Clarkson told a good friend of his at the Swans (you work it out) the side he least wanted to play in the grand finals because their game style was most likely to be troubled by us was, you guessed it.....

Free kick count was pathetically biased. While Hawthorns frees were probably all legitimate it was the randomness that they were plucked out that was the problem. As Liz pointed out one moment hodge gets an over the shoulder and the next hes burying jack into the ground with his forearm or punching birds arms out and its play on.

I heard Dermie on SEN post week grand final say "yeah, if the hawks hadn't gone to sleep in that second quarter they would have won by 8 goals"...now there is a so-called expert opinion! The second quarter went for approx 30 mins...in my opinion the hawks only dominated us for 5 mins late 1st qtr and for about 8 mins late 3rd qtr and a further 2 mins early last quarter. You do the math!

...also, friends of mine mentioned about how unlucky the hawks were getting one day less rest before the GF (yes, all supporters of melbourne teams...pies, dons, tigers). I quickly mentioned...what would you rather have, an extra days rest or play the GF on your home ground? They all said...never thought of that!

The umpiring (and commentator) bias was clear in the last quarter when Cyril tackled Jack and got him above the shoulder with his arm against Kieren's head and there was no free paid - and the TV replayed it and someone said "yeah, no free in that" - in what world? Also there was a clear in the back around that time - and Teddy's deliberate OOB that wasn't replicated for the rest of the game despite more obvious ones.

I'm not complaining though - it made the win even sweeter.

We got the worst of the umpiring but we kicked far better. I don't think the umpiring made a lot of difference i the end but it could have done. I am a bit peeved about this rugby scrum that the umpies allow to develop, all the while shouting "get it out". Ball the @@@@ing thing up quicker you idiots! It slows the game down and allows slower less talented teams to set up and block the more talented and quicker teams. The thing is the AFL said they were going to ball it up quicker earlier in the season and started to do so but come finals time it was back to the usual rugby scrum. The teams playing the finals made the finals by playing tough, hard, skilled footy, the Umpies were terrible. That is not saying the Swans were treated badly, just that the umpiring leaves a lot to be desired and we need to get rid of some of these crap new rules. Like the 'Holding the Ball' Rule is so bad it is open to many different interpretations at any time in any circumstance. The 'Unfair Disposal' Rule is totally flawed in that the umpies let players hand the ball to each other in packs, just like a Rugby Scrum, but if a player tries to kick the ball and misses it is a free against him. Previously, making a true effort to dispose of the ball legally and the ball coming out in the tackle was play on. That's my Grumpy Old Man bit for the day.

I don't want to change one microsecond of the grand final. As I raved on about in past years, there is a space time continuum and if you change one thing you inexorably change the things that follow. People have criticised ROK post game for not kicking to Mattner in the last couple of minutes. Rewind the game and have him kick to Mattner, then who knows what follows ....... Change an umpiring decision and we reshuffle the cards. We won with the events that transpired, I for one wouldn't change a thing. People see the movie "Sliding Doors"?
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.
