That and the goal up the other end of the ground by one of the newbies were the only real highlights of that game.

Our blokes were just not ready to play full stop. However, in the tradition of Roosy, it's the NAB cup and does anyone really care?

We may well struggle early in hte season being a month behind the non finals sides training wise, but we'll build and thre is a fair bit of talent to come back in

would the other goal be Dean Towers goal be chance? towers wasn't too bad but justr needs to attack the ball a bit harder.

We don't take this very seriously and it showed. We were pretty pathetic in both games. to be honest I think our preparation is further behind than our coaches thought. Winning the Premiership certainly has its drawbacks the season after, like starting preparation way after the other sides. The fitness staff will start to accelerate the fitness regime in the coming weeks. It was obvious our blokes were underdone by the way they were sucking in the air. I was right on the boundary near the interchange and our blokes were puffed while GWS boys hardly puffed at all.

              I think it was Towers.

No wonder Horse is trying to give game time to as many non-senior players as possible. In 2, 3 years, 4 at the most, the Swans will be without Goodes, Bolton, ROK, Shaw, Mattner, Teddy, LRT, possibly Pyke and Mal and maybe McVeigh/McGlynn.

During this year and next we will need to have at least 5 players ready to take over key senior roles, with 5 others ready to be the next AJ's, Hanners and Jets. It is scary! How we need Rohan to recover well and Mitchell to come good!. We do have Tippett up our sleeve but that won't help much if we can't get the ball to him or we are lacking in defense.

Looking ahead, while White, Walsh or Everitt may be useful I can't see them providing the quality we need, Armstrong maybe yes. So we have to find out quickly whether Lamb, Cunningham, Lockyer, Brown, or Towers have got what it takes and whether our latest recruits will provide a future star or two.

I hope we don't have to bring in players not in the top 22 at other clubs even though that's the way we got Shaw, Mattner, Teddy, and Mummy and Kennedy. Not having access to high draft picks very often and with free agency, maybe that is what we will have to do again.

This is not meant to be a negative vent after the loss of two NAB games but my assessment of the challenges ahead, and support for Horse in flinging in the untried at this time.

it was a nice run to get the ball to White by little Jack Jnr and then support him the whole way............jumpn jack flash !

I wouldnt be surprised if we see alot more of jersey no 33 in 2014 onwards - a season in the ressies and another pre season he will fill out a bit and and build his awareness massively on what to do when you dont have the ball

He wasn't named, he has done no skills training all pre-season due to tendinitis. He's been running all pre-season.

fair point. Only disappointing thing is we seem to have a few guys ready for delisting already.

I expect us to be soundly beaten this week

Surprised no one mentioned the positive that matters the most for us. Reid's goal kicking.

Looks like he has got his technique down pat and absolutely nailed that kick from 50. Could be in for a big year.

More important that small sign than the 2 bad losses.

Did notice Jeff, but....don't want to boogeyman the kid. If he has been taking lessons from Davis, and its worked, and Davo takes on KT, then....ooohhhhh

Thanks for that. I think it's time to start the injuries thread.
