Have we won MORE premierships than NAB cup games in the last 10 years?

The night series was then played on a Tuesday night (mostly) at Waverley with all VFL teams and a number of interstate teams participating.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

Our ground was the only ground with lighting. It was a bit dull in the press box end pocket. I recall going to a night game at the South ground in the early 70's. You could by a box of beer right up to and including 3/4 time. The biggest task of the night was knocking them off before the game finished.Comment

The first night games were held at the old south ground. The lights were nowhere as good as they are to day. Around the half back flanks near the boundary on the outer end was in shadow many a player suffered "sunstroke " in those area's AT NIGHTJust fainted on the spot.
Strange it NEVER happened to a south player only the other teams.Comment

Sorry to be pedantic, but it was called the Lake Oval, not Lakeside. IIRC that is the one outside the SCG.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

Did you know that around 1977 a breakaway mob from I think Adelaide formed I think the National Football League and they were going to play night games at the Lake Oval. The South Melbourne Cricket Club was the main tenant of the oval and they were threatened by the VFL that if it went ahead South Melbourne Football Club would not play games there. Needless to say it never went ahead, but I always thought that after the failed effort around that tine to relocate Fitzroy interstate, the VFL zoomed in on us as their preferred candidate.Comment

Well considering we had McVeigh, ROK, Shaw, Morton, Bird, Mumford, Smith, Mattner, Malceski, Jack, Rohan (if he plays), Tippett i'm not surprised we didn't beat the aints.LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

I know you guys lost your team but personally I'm so grateful that South did come North. I'm so proud of our bloods heritage and the fact we have strong roots in 2 states that the club embraces fully fills me with a sense of pride in our club...And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

Don't recall a thing about the game, but I do recall getting into the ground and being amazed at the number of Swans supporters who had turned up to watch the game. This was year 1 of the Sydney move and up until then, for all games in Melbourne whenever Sydney kicked a goal, the silence was defeaning. We had zero support at most games in Melbourne in 1982. So to see a large contingent of my fellow Swans supporters was heartening.
The only other thing I remember about the game was that after presenting Barry Round with the trophy, the players began to do a lap of the park, and they turned the bloody lights off!!!
How times change. The 30th anniversary of that event was last year, and Richmond supporters used to laugh at us. Ha ha ha!!!Comment
