And also someone mentioned Dre playing like he has no intention of being dropped - maybe not the most talented bloke out there but he has no plans on dying wondering this year.

Would like also to give a couple of claps to Lukey - his endeavour is admirable, not always perfect but........ my enduring memory of early Jude is of him bouncing around the outside of the packs like an over excited labrador pup......at the same stage of his career I consider Luke to be a little more advanced in his skills than Jude was back then.
Dre was getting the ball.but some of his kicks were woeful.
Wasn't until his set shot, he seemed to get better.

As for Goodes, I wonder whether his knee is troublesome.
Didn't appear to turn too well a few times, and very rarely gave chase.

I took it that Hunt was tagging Kennedy and did a pretty good job I thought. ROK was fabulous as always but would still love him to take that moment extra with his kicking. McVeigh was Ablettesque.

Giant....... on many occasions i have contemplated ROK's grab and kick over his head......it happens close to 2000 times a game !

now first let me say I love the guys intensity, love his tackling and grit but do you see Macca, Jack or Kennedy just turning out of a pack 77 times a game and blazing away with a tonk kick forward? answer NO you dont !

ROK in my opinion must be told to do this to compliment our game plan of field position in the opposition half no.1..........there is rarely a player in the AFL that does this as much as Pebbles and yes it is frustrating to watch compared to a nice short sharp handpass out of the pack ala skillful footy

Our game plan is to move it forward and keep the pressure in the oppositions half so that we can maintain control and contest. This game plan is the core of our footy and has enabled to spread when we need to ala 2012 in parts of the game but the game plan has enabled us to suit a team of tradesman and lack of flashy no1 draft picks.

given that we dont play chip around footy nor do we like to be a thru the middle handpassing team as a core of our game plan unless on the counter attack ..........therefore my gut feeling is that ROK is told to move it forward as quick as possible to a contest

the advantage is that everytime ROK gets the ball our midfield know to flood forward and break from their opposing player

plus overall we are controlling field position which means the opposition are limited to kicking to a contest if they counter attack which is easier for us to defend

Dre was pretty good but needed to get the pace right. NEAFL is a lot slower and he was spoiled on several occasions because he didn't quite get the rhythm right. He will get better I believe. He was sensational at NEAFL level last week and I believe he has just arrived. lets hope so because his skills when he is playing well are sensational.

we were not at our best yesterday and conditions didn't help nor did the umpires. But it is early in the season and we will get better. but there are signs, Macca, Lukey, Kizza, Smithy, Sammy, Teddy, Reg, Hannas are all up and running. Jetts was better this week but late starters Marty, Rhyce and Goodsey seem to be a bit down yet but Marty is starting to show a bit. The Big boys were both good the same as last week.

Someone said that they would like to see Morton, Membrey and Lamb get a go soon. I think they might if we have injuries or we have match ups for them. There will be a few more players used this year because they are ready for AFL action and our coaches will have the confidence to use them.

Auntie: all I can say about ROK is that he was BOG in the GF that we won. He wins the footy at will in hard contested situations and gets better as the game goes on and is rarely tagged out of the game. He moves the ball forward at all costs and rarely does dumb handball. Handy player for mine.

              more than handy !!

he has been awesome in 2012 and this year so far !

I just find the kick ahead constantly without looking hard to watch but i understand it has to be coach driven

PS still think Hannes was the most unlucky guy not to be BOG in a GF !

How under-rated is McVeigh? When non-swans fans talk about the swans midfielders you hear the same names; Kennedy, Jack, maybe ROK. McVeigh is consistently one of our best - always looks like he has time and is one of our best ball users. I love him more every game. He was fantastic yesterday. Pyke is playing with confidence through the roof and I thought Reid was pretty good.

Only downside - the channel 7 commentary! So bad I couldn't finish watching. (I was at the game and so had seen it already). Meaningless drivel about the private lives of the commentary team, occasionally broken up by stats trivia. Hopeless!
