As much as it pains me to say this, I think Everitt is actually the best option to replace LRTs most recent role (ie, replacing Johnson down back). I haven't liked his games lately, but when the time comes, and it will, where the opposition lines up with three genuine talls up forward I don't think anyone else will have the size to take the third of them. Mal, Marty, Rampe are all just shy of that 190cm mark, which is big enough to mark a medium tall, but not a genuine KP sized forward. Walsh has the size, but he doesn't look to me to have the speed to play third tall, and other than that we'd have to hand someone a debut to get a 190+cm defender in. The only other possibility that I could see (and I think it's extremely remote) would be to send Goodes or Reid back there after Tippett comes in.

I'm increasingly leaning toward Reid moving to the backline.

He has the size, great skills at getting the ball away under pressure.

And he's generally a really good field kick.

It will depend on how Tippett goes, and if Walsh can step up to AFL and play the bash and crash forward foil....

      There's also Membery as a 3rd tall/ medium option.

But I suppose, until Tippett comes on board.... Reid will definitely stay forward, with the help of Resting ruckmen, Goodes, Morton/ Everitt and a few small guys.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

This is a situation that may have suited Spangher. Ah, the price you pay for offloading depth.

We didn't offload him, he jumped ship.

Ah, interesting to see that someone else thinks that perhaps Reid may make a reasonable backman. Made that observation myself, but I wonder if it would be valid. We have some pretty fine running backs, and I don't think in a month of sundays anyone could call Sammy a runner. Mind you he has been pushing himself up the ground a bit lately.

Need to see Reid play alongside Tippett before he's moved around.

Yep, reckon that was part of the thinking when we decided to chase Tippett. He is a very tall player who clunks contested marks, will definitely draw the best defender meaning Sammy will get a lesser defender than he currently does.

Changes for round 6 v Brisbane

Sammy is actually pretty quick Prim. Good tank too. Think he was not far behind Jets and Rooster in the 20m sprint at draft combine. I prefer him forward though. Hell be a great lead up Nick Riewoldt type, not necessarily your stay at home forward. He's still a baby, Tippets inclusion will see him soar I believe.

Has White been tried as a defender? Has the size and athleticism, though I realise there's no chance he'd be considered to replace LRT down back.

Over the years he's had extended stints in defence, in attack, in the ruck and we even tried him once as the 19th man.

Spectacularly average at them all unfortunately...

Reading too much into it I know, I'm sure the media folks have little inside knowledge, but the Swans have opted to team the ins/outs announcement on Facebook with a picture of Jesse.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time
