With LRT already out of the side (and hence unavailable for pinch hitting duties), I can't see that they've got an option other than to bring Jesse into the team. If Pykey were to get injured at some point, there is literally no one else you could imagine them throwing into the ruck. Even if Pyke doesn't get injured, he will need a few short breathers during the game.
Jesse has rucked pretty well for the last year or so in the reserves and he definitely deserves a go.Comment

Don't under-rate 4 points against another top-4 contender. Winning this will put us in a much better position for a high ladder position later in the season.
That said, I rate it as important (but no more important) as the Geelong game, or a game against Collingwood or even Essendon."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Time for the Big W to stand up in replace for Mummy. About time this farce was ended!LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Jesse was very impressive in the ruck last week and will be a ready-made replacement - as a ruck that is. I don't see him much as a forward nowadays except the odd rest up forward.
I think he's better following the ball around anyway and his stoppage work has been pretty good from what I've seen I him in the NEAFL lately.
Good luck to him anyway and I hope he puts in a solid performance....Comment

[QUOTE=aardvark;610671]White is the logical replacement regretfully. Now lets see...I reckon 4 hit outs, 1 mark, 3 kicks, 2 handballs and 4 frees against then subbed at 3/4 time.[QUOTE]
That is a little harsh. Do you watch the reserves Aardvark? I do and he has been really good and deserves his chance now Mummy is injured. I think he can do just as well as Roughy in the ruck if not better, Jesse at least doesn't give away ruck frees each game.Comment

What's gunna happen when White & Pyke dominate the center square contests, & Jesse kicks 4 goals resting in the pocket? Then continues to do this until Mummy is fit again or Tippett resumes after suspension & either of the bigger guns have their spots seriously challenged by a Jesse While has realized his potential & earned a contract extension?Comment

White's late inclusion makes Morton's exclusion all the more unfortunate because they combine so well. However, I'm sure Lamb will do all that is asked of him and do it well, in whatever time he is allowed.
Good luck big Jesse. You have the chance, here and now, to save your football career and remind us of what we saw in you. Don't let us down.

It's not overstating things to say Jesse is literally playing for his career tonight. Even if Mummy's injury is a minor one and he's back next week, this game gives White the chance to show the AFL world that he is a genuine mobile ruckman. If his time is up at the Swans when his contract expires at the end of this season, a good showing tonight might persuade another club to give him a go. Alternatively, he might prove to be a real bonus in this role for us.Comment
