    Mitchell: Rising Star

If he doesn't get the nomination this week I'll walk naked to the AFL offices and lodge a protest. (He'll get the nomination so no need to panic )

Just an extraordinary second game from the kid. I can't remember a better start to an AFL career than this. He looks like he's played a 100 games already.

I know supporters can go over the top with praise and excitement but if I was any more excited about how good this kid is going to be I'd need a cigarette.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

So if we hear on the police scanners that there is a crazed man in the AFL offices we know who? J/K Totally agree with you, unbelievable performance by him.

Yeah, I can't remember seeing a player come in and look so comfortable and so assured.

Some of his early work, in and under, feeding the ball out, was amazing.

31 poss'ies, 10 tackles etc etc.....Rising star this week for sure.

          Very good.

I think O'Meara and Whitfield are both eligible this year?

Tommy is very good, and I can see these three being the best 3 in the comp in 5-8 years time.

It's a shame only one will win this year, and our Tommy is disadvantaged by not playing as many games as those guys.

The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

I've followed the Swans since the early 1960's and this kid's debut games have been special. My idol as a kid was Bobby Skilton and this kid has so many traits to the great Skilts....natural left footer but can kick both feet, great courage and dines out on hard ball gets and tackles, unbelievable hands in traffic. Sorry Birdy, but this kid belongs in the No 14. I'm going to enjoy watching this kid constantly remind me of the great Chimp (that was Skilt's nickname) and take me back to the smell of jam doughnuts at the Lakeside Oval.

Will there be one rising star nomination for each of the split rounds?

I would assume so, it's technically separate rounds with byes. I think!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Not that TM needs any more accolades, but that tackle to take down Patrick Dangerfield in the third quarter was pretty good for a young kid tackle a big bodied player and take him to the ground.

He's not what I thought he'd be at all - he looks like he could be the next superstar inside mid of the competition. Not just the tackling, have a look at what he does in the packs, knocking the ball out of hands, extracting the ball from where's it no meant to come out, lightning quick hands - talk about a man crush...

His work by hand may be similar to Sam Mitchell...But he has a much, much stronger kick.
