I think it is time Jude or bird made way for lamb. I think the forward line will be too tall wit Tippett Pyke and Reid and goodes. Our structure which I was kind of hoping we might have a chance to work out in some ok games will be a problem because bird, Jude, Parker, are too slow to be resting mids in the forward line.

I think our defense is grossly over stretched at the moment which is covered when the midfield wins but when it gets beaten we are in trouble.

This looked a lot like a lot of our games in melbourne in recent years where once the midfield is beaten the pressing of the half forwards meant that even when the ball is brought to ground by white, or Tippett, or whoever there is no support nearby and it gets repelled too easily.

This game was lost I the third quarter and the coup de grace took place in the final quarter. And it was being beaten inside our fifty unable to escape which was the problem.

Fringe players today contributed nothing. Really playing 3 short - Morton, White, Armstrong. Can't think of a good player for us outside of Goodes. Perhaps Malceski had a bit of it.
Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.

As for saying Armstrong was Ok in my opinion he should be in the Alice, Morts was also poor as were many others. Pyke missed Mummy and as someone noted earlier get him signed up. The mistakes in tghe backline were deplorable and Ryan was not his useual self. A bad game from Hanners but in the dry on top of the ground he thrashes Cornes, Very disappointing today they were probably beilievers in their own invincibility. At least that might be the bad game out of the way.
Well put. I would add that Grundy seems to be lazy and not concentrating, maybe because our injuries are so bad he knows he is an automatic selection. The sky hasn't fallen in but hell we need to improve and stop believing we just need to turn up. Very disappointing. I am worried about game against Carlton cos Malthouse has the wood over us. Also worried about Goodes injury

If it came to a choice between Pyke and Mummford it would be Mummford every time. We need Mummford, LRT, Jetta, Reid and Shaw for Pyke, Armstrong, Morton, White ad Mitchell or Lamb

we need one shocker every year to kick start things. this was that game. despite the atrocious umpiring and poor effort from a number of players, we should remember that we've got heaps of our best 22 players out injured. plus, this loss means the commentators, journos, etc, will go to back to underrating us which is the way we like things

But then malceski let his man kick to vital goals.

One thing i noticed today was that, yes, our Midfield depth is great, but we had no outside run. It was all JPK, ROK, Parks, Mitchell even Bird on the inside. Jude amongst it at times. Jack trying very hard once it got out. Hanners non existent and that's your ball game. Once it came out we had nothing (except for KJ). They tagged Dan and Macca and they were spot on the money.

I would have put McGlynn in the middle.

I'm not sure i can stick up for Armstrong anymore. No strength or speed. Sorry Tony. It's ok when we have the game under control but when it gets rough and tough, he aint the Man for the job.

I don't mind losing when we put in. We didn't put in and lost by 3 goals. Another lesson learned I guess.

Their enthusiasm and Hinkley won that. Surprised Horse didn't mix it up.

Yeah just a stinker of a performance, maybe believing their own hype after their last few games. I wouldn't be blaming injuries, it was our effort rather than our personal that was lacking today. Pressure non existent, skills poor, even allowing for the conditions. Ball movement safe and uninspiring. Arnstrong is not upto it, Lamb needs a full game to show what he can do and work into the game. Tippett did some good things though.

Wet weather footy is much different to dry. Swans have had wind and dry and some wet weather. However for what I could see on the TV was that there was a lot of water on the ground. I am not going to hang anyone for bad game (week after the bye) in the wet.

We were out played at our own game on a wet track.

Pleased that it was not a finals match!

Few players back into the side and we will a better side.

The conditions really nullified our offensive game. I thought we tried to take possession too often when we should have just tried move it forward by any means. Our defenders made so many errors. Grundy was the worst, but even McVeigh made plenty of poor decisions. We are going to have to find another game plan for wet conditions.

The loss hurts a lot. We will find it difficult to make top 2 and will have to fight hard just to make the top 4. It's only one game, but our premiership defence has been seriously dented.

That just sucked all round. Credit to Port. They never stopped believing, ran harder all around the ground and adapted better as the conditions changed during the game. Hard to pick out any Swan who had either the will or the ability to change the game.

Does anyone know the issue with Goodes? I hope we haven't lost yet another big bloke this week for an extended period. Specially not Goodsey.

A right knee issue Liz. Hoping not PCL again.

When he is off his game and has disinterested body language he is a liability to the team.Even when on his own and not pressured he still managed to give the ball back to Port.Hannas had his worst game for the year.
he should have been subbed at half time as he was giving us nothing. The Swans have played their best game and worst game within 2 weeks.
