Match Thread Swans v Blues Game Day Thread

Scattered showers were forecast but if what's going on right now is scattered I'm a monkey's uncle. At least we know the ground drains better than Football Park does.

With these conditions, if KT were match fit, I'd advocate leaving out White, playing Jack Jr and bringing in another small as the sub (perhaps Cunningham).

Very interesting you mention the drainage at Footy Park. When the venue was first built the drainage was first class. This water retention problem they have is fairly recent. The SCG has one wing to pocket that retains water at times, only in the heaviest showers.

I don't think Harry is anywhere ready yet as he has just returned from injury. Xav Richards, while a tall is very mobile. I think the problem last week was not so much too many talls but how we kicked to them. If you shoot the ball in a high arc to a pack it always has the chance of coming undone, especially when they had more players at the fall of the ball. White can and does play lead up forward as can Tippett. You need good reliable kicking in the wet not bombs, not dinkies, not caressed just good long flat deliveries. We also need to lose the overly clever handball in the wet it is too hard to control.

The team to stay as named as far as I am concerned. Brandon to sub.

Same here Wolfy. I had a feeling watching that game that it was a Tippetty tip, and the boys were slightly distracted, without meaning to be, that it was his first game for Ever. Don't think this will happen tonight.

Glad to have Drey back in (whodathort some of us would be looking forward to seeing him back....improved a lot in my eyes, hope he has a blinder), and happy to see BJ back in. He is not a kid to be distracted. And its Kiz's birthday, so that will make ALL the difference........

The rain has stopped pelting about half an hour ago. Holding my breath, dug out my waterproofs, I will look like a red clad polar bear. Fashion in the Field NOT.

You'll be in red and warm, that is all the fashion now days
I'm wishing I could wear my huge furry bathrobe to the game, ugly but warm (and it's red and white)

I had a look at the seating map for tonight's game.

My match ticket says I am in Concourse Bay 46.

Does anyone know where that is?

Geez I hope it clears up a bit - still teeming in the CBD. This will knock at least 10,000 off the crowd I reckon and the game may not be much of a spectacle. At least the talls we do have playing should be reasonably mobile in the wet. Could work in BJ's favour in getting a full game?

The radar shows a very thin snaky line of rain right through the CBD and down through the St George area but hardly anywhere else. If it keeps moving at the speed it is we might be lucky by 5pm or so.

It is raining so hard at the moment my bus stop just became a Ferry Port. One of my neighbours just flashed by riding a sheet of corrugated iron heading down the hill. It has got so wet here they have put skis on the bus wheels and the bus depot is changing its name to the Sydney Inner West Ferry Terminal

Are any Swans junior swimming champions? Get 'em on the field (I mean lake).

                    Are canoes performance enhancing?

no canoes are natural, all wood, very natural. No synthetics there. Measure all their feet to find out if they have feet like Thorpie. Might be better playing barefoot tonight. Remember when we were kids and it got really wet, the puddles were too high and the footy boots used to get full of water so we used to kick them off and play barefoot.

The forecast yesterday was that the rain would decrease during the afternoon then return in the evening. Plan on galoshes.

I'd guess from the current seating map that's one of the new concourse blocks in the construction area, behind the goals at the city end. Take raincoat and/or umbrella

Optimistic. The radar right now shows an endless line of rain, some heavy, streaking down the coast from NE to SW. I reckon we're in for showers, some heavy, the rest of the day.
