    Our Mal !!

Seriously has Mal just shot into another galaxy end of last season and this season !

The guy in the absence of Mattner, Shaw and AJ has shot thru the roof !

OUr backline is amazing me at the moment. We have so many players out and Mal, above all, has been simply outstanding !

how about the drop mark, pick up and kick on the run on his back in the last qtr at full pace !!!

    that will do me !

I honestly didnt think a couple of seasons a go I would see Mal rise up again and be such a force as an inside or outside player let alone as a bloods backline general

Was just thinking 10 minutes ago that I thought I had the front runner for the Swans CC this year. Have always rated Mal, right from his ressie days, and its a beautiful thing to watch a favourite son show his true colours.

The only thing that hasn't improved is his snaps for goals. he's tried to emulate his GF goals a few times but has failed to land them.
Maybe he saves them for special occasions!!

Tom Harley certainly agrees, he has him as in the All Australian team this year......So do I.

He's stepped up firstly in Shaw's absence and now Mattner's retirement. Playing with a lot of confidence and whereas there was a point in time where I would have my heart in my mouth if the ball came to him in a one-on-one defensive situation, I don't have the same fears any more.

a true Blood. Gives everything to help his team. Even the Umps (BTW the worst call all year) couldn't slow him down, just spurred him on.

              Sliding Doors moment

Brisbane at the SCG last year. Mal named in the reserves for the third game in a row and Armstrong seems to have usurped his place, playing well against GWS the week before. Mattner is a late withdrawal and Mal comes in for him. In a illogical decision (at least to those outside the club) Armstrong is made the sub instead of Mal.

Mal plays a great game, has a season high 29 touches in a dominant team but more importantly Armstrong only gets less than a quarter to play and gets omitted the following week ostensibly for "match fitness" reasons. Tony only plays two more games for the year and remains on the periphery whereas Mal plays all the remaining games culminating in the you-know-what moment in the GF.

What if Longmire and his assistants had plumped for Mal as the sub that day, and he suffers from the same shortage of match time that day as Armstrong and struggles with the rest of the year coming in and out of the side while Armstrong, playing with his confidence at sky high levels due to cementing a place in the defensive seven, continues to wow us with his mix of offensive and defensive prowess instead of the current positions the two find themselves at the moment.

              Just worth a thought.

What do you do for a living ugg? I would just love to know. That's an analysis worthy of some investigation.

                And its a fascinating scenario.

If there was a prize for rebound 50 of the year, Mal would have it in the bag after that sliding miss mark and then somehow managed to kick it 40-50 meters off the ground.

Outstanding year, statisticly he has been the best running half back for the season, smashing the rebound 50's, getting a lot of inside 50's and smashing everyone in both those stats combined! But the AA selectors don't always see that, hopefully he keeps it up (he should) and gets in the AA.

Malcho deserves all the credit we can give him, but I think the whole back line is in on this success. He can stay a few meters clear of his man because he can rely on the other guys to cover if it goes over the back. This keeps him in front of his opponent, allowing the attack for which he should get an AA spot this year. Malcho is playing a blinder this year, and so is the whole back line.

Best thing that ever happened to Mal. Getting dropped. Must have hurt like hell.

I was just impressed he didn't lose it. ( I did!) Would probably have been a second free shot on goal for umpire abuse. Admirable discipline.
