Indeed. Not to mention self-interested. Which club has the biggest budget and thus stands to gain the most when others lose entitlements?
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

With McGuire still compalining about the COLA, I have never before wanted the Swans to SMASH Collingwood as I do this weekend. Collingwood are the most favoured club in the competition, how McGuire can make these uneducated comments, I'll never know. After his Goodes comment, he doesn't @@@@ing get to ever form the words 'Sydney Swans' from his fat mouth ever again. He is not worthy of the the dirt on the Swans' footy boots.

Bloods, SMASH THE LIVING @@@@ out of Collingwood and put them in their place - on the overrated losers list. Do it with half the team missing too. How does that figure into their COLA logic? Bring on the DERRO DECIMATION.
I'm at the point where I can't understand why the club doesn't get on the front foot more and call these club representatives out publicly. We need someone to smooth as silk embarrass them for repeatedly making comments and ignoring facts. Then again I guess the club feels they have addressed the issues enough and are taking the higher road. Funny that the AFL hasn't stepped in and changed anything even with all the moaning. I guess the AFL who have seen our contracts endorse them....

I can't understand all the worry about this weekends game.

They've got nothing and in a few years time we'll be talking about our winning streak...

I think Ireland and Colless have successfully killed the story. Since they pointed out that we paid for Tippett by cutting six players with total salaries of around $1m, Maguire and Swann, who previously had plenty to say, have shut up. Now Eddie has called out Mumford! Who came across on $250k a year. The Mumford story is well-known - no surprise no-one is taking any notice of Eddie's latest outburst. Not a good year for the Eddie brand.

The thing I don't get about him bringing Mumford into the equation is that, as you said, it's common knowledge that the contract we were able to sign Shane to ended up being a massive bargain. It's basically a solid argument that Sydney are exceptional at identifying and targeting middling talent on other lists, so yes we may poach players but Shane wasn't exactly in the same league as Kurt when acquired. On top of that we've had a speculation in the media that the squeeze is on and we may struggle to fit Shane in on a new (presumably fair) contract.

And on top of all of that, we went and acquired Shane (along with Seaby) as our number 1 ruckman left us to go to a club that had just made a preliminary final (losing to the eventual premiers) and would go on to win a premiership the following year- so in a nutshell proving it was possible to get a top flight player after a strong season without it only occuring because of extra bucks on the salary cap.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Well the media is wrong. I thought Colless came out the other day and said we still have room to pay one more established player from another club.

I'd think the obvious changes will be: (Assuming no injuries we don't know about)

                  IN - McGlynn ....

                  OUT - Brandon Jack .....

                  SUB - Lamb .

I think the world has tuned Eddie out. He lost the debate years ago.

The thing is, I was one of the people cutting him a bit a of a break for making a stupid 'mistake' re the Goodes comment. However, as someone said, wouldn't he be very careful to show us some respect now and not say boo? No - in fact, he starts making up more @@@@, this time about Mumford. WTF?

If we turn up to play this weekend, the Pies won't stand a chance. Essendon put up no resistance to them last weekend, while conversely the Dogs were outstanding against us, all things considered. We are in a good place preparation-wise. Just make sure we shut down Beams. And as a commentator said, if the move Reid to the forward line, they're robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Given his track record, odds are definitely against us still

Guess weight of numbers will be behind them $1:40 suggests we arena good chance

Nope, no chance in my book with or without Rohan. BJ is clearly a great talent, and has done some good stuff, but I don't thnk they'll pick him (assuming no further injuries aside) . Its one thing looking good as a youngster in the regular season against mid tier teams, its another against the best teams in the biggest games of the season. He will no doubt be a very good player (compared to KJ at the same time of his career, he is well in front of his big brother!), but unless he is needed due to injuries, I just can't see them picking him.

McGlynn in for BJ is my pick for this week, with no other unenforced changes until any of the injured brigade are ready, or the Swans think rohan is worth a shot. Probably Lamb to sub I guess.

Oh and anyone suggesting they'll drop Bird for McGlynn has rocks in their heads (unless there is some issue with him we don't know about).

As for eddie, he only likes hearing his own voice far too often, that's all. Just like Jeff Kennett, he is just trying to pretend to be relevant, when most dont give a s*** about what he has to say.

That's how I see it too. Numerous times this season we've had these danger games where the opposition are going to get us according to plenty of pundits (Kangaroos, Collingwood, Bombers, Adelaide, Carlton, West Coast, Richmond) and we've gone out and beat the lot of them, and often very comfortably. If we turn up to play like we did in Rd 9, we will belt Collingwood again. They don't have the midfield to run two way with outs, no matter what they think.

Not that I'm confident at all, I never am against Collingwood. But if we turn up, play reasonably well, we will get the job done, and our Premiership defence will roll on

I am still angry about Eddie's comments on Goodes . I certainly won't go to the game, might not even watch it. I really hope Collingwood lose though. But then I really hope Collingwood lose every game.
