A great many people are simply saying on this thread that they hate the stadium and don't enjoy going there. It's really that simple.

We understand mate. And as 'doctor' pointed out, we had the same 'I Hate Homebush' thread before Rd 1 and the same thread before the PF last year and the same thread before Rd 20 last year and on and on it goes.

I understand and acknowledge that, and that does not surprise me. But check out my join date.

This thread went south when some people misunderstood the purpose of it. I find it good to know that many people feel the same as I do about ANZ stadium. The good thing about this situation is that it's not compulsory to read and comment on all threads that are started, so if it's something people have seen before, they can just ignore it. I see so many duplicated threads and crossover content here happening at the same time, but I aint the Thread Police and enjoy reading people's opinions anyway, regardless their chronological or organisational distribution.

Us and the Cats are in an interesting position in that we don't get to play finals at our home ground. In our case, I understand 1000% and appreciate the reasons why the games would be held there but in doing so, I think we relinquish a significant home-ground advantage.

We hold a significant home ground advantage at homebush, especially in finals. Before the north, freo and brisbane finals, those teams had never played there.

In fact, very few teams other than collingwood have played there more than a couple of times. And many teams have never played there. Even fewer have ever won.

That is the grestest finals home ground advantage in the history of professional football. .. but lets leave that to please some whiny sooks from bondi.

Waverley was once a strategic asset of the AFL/VFL. That ended well Barry.

Follow GWS if you are so enamoured with going out to Homebush. Don't get on here and bitch about other people's views. Sock.

GWS play there less than we do...

I only do that because the AFL initially decided that playing games at Homebush would be a good way of bringing more people from the western suburbs to the AFL. Subsequent to that, they decided to base a team out there, to further that aim and to lay claim to Sydney's west. I therefore think that it's somewhat obsolete for the Swans to continue playing out there, when the reality is that the crowds that have attended our recent games would comfortably fit in the refurbished SCG from next year onwards.

That's all. I'll keep going to matches out there - I would just prefer all our games to be at the SCG.

I got a couple of responses to my email from a communications person at the Swans. After I was initially told by Membership that the AFL and ANZ Stadium have the contract, the communications guy corrected that, stating that the contract is between the Swans and the Stadium. I'd thought the contract was between the AFL and the Stadium, so there you go. Apparently it's the Swans' deal and the club is "very happy" with the contract. And it goes to 2016.

I think I can cope with that for a bit longer, but it would be nice to play Collingwood at the SCG for once. I reckon it'd be better if they mixed up the opponents a bit more.

When I was a kid growing up in Adelaide every other sat I would have to jump on a bus or train to go see my beloved Doggies play, I hated half the grounds we played at many were difficult to get to from where I lived but I went anyway - I loved my team and would have gone to watch them in a cow paddock in rain hail or snow.

Who cares where they play make an effort and get out there and support your team!

                      Cheers

I wonder why he keeps trying to change the Blues into a GF winning team, then?

I agree with the mixing it up bit and I like that we are playing Hawthorn there and I certainly don't blame the ground for last weeks loss, though it would be nice to face The Pies occasionally at The SCG.

I'm a 90/120 minute drive from both grounds and both grounds have their good points and bad points but if they played in a cow paddock in Timbucktoo that had no parking and only served @@@@ on a stick with pumpkin, I'd still go to every game. But that's just me, we all follow the team in our own way and the most annoying thing about this site nowadays is that it seems you have to follow it a particular way or cop ridicule and be classed as a NARF!

I agree. It would be good to mix it up. One if the early games would have been good this year. Carlton or Geelong maybe.

Fair points. We should also acknowledge that the crowd that rolled up on Saturday night would not have fit into the SCG this year. It'll be the same for the Hawthorn game.
