Lets see what our current list can deliver for us in 2014. Rampe, Mitchell, Richards, Biggs, Lamb and Brendon's Jack have made their debuts this year and should all be better players in 2014.

Garry Rohan will be better after a full preseason. Adam Goodes will have a better pre season than last year. LRT, Jetta, and Sam Reid will be ready for big pre seasons.

Parker, Rampe and Everitte will continue to develop and we should have Alex Johnson early in the season.

This may be the time to let the list grow organically and see how far it will take us!

I agree. We're top four now, with top two just one game away. Half our list are injured, yet we've still got the goods to mix it with the best. I would think our recruiting efforts should be focussed on retaining what we've got and building for two to three year's time when a few of our stars will retire.

Spot on the money as far as I am concerned.

Clearly we need to bed Tippett down into our structure and I fear we will lose Jesse White (but hopefully keep Mummy). Add in the three retirements and a few delistings and we are really looking at just a mini refresh. I think this squad has one last push before a rebuild.

At the end of 2014 we could quite easilly see ROK, Goodes, LRT and Shaw retire and a number of fringe players will also be past their use-by date. Can see a major rebuild at the end of next year with as many as 10 out and 10 in but for now let's keep things rolling along

On Talking Footy last night they were speculating about a 4-year deal with Collingwood for Mumford. Any truth to that, anyone?

              Sense of deja vous here.

With Tom Bellchambers signing a new deal with the Bombers, Mummy is clearly the number 1 experienced ruckman on the market, which you would think would increase his value and perhaps even fuel a bidding war. Collingwood and GWS, the 2 clubs mentioned most in a trade, both have mid first round picks that might be on offer. Tempting, given we have 3 other ruckmen that played quite well most of the 2nd half of the season.

I would think (hope) that GWS would offer more than a mid round pick. I agree with what you wrote after hearing about the signing tonight.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

IIRC, didn't we get picks 14 and 46 for Jolly? Based on that, it seems that something around a pick 10 would be close to the mark. The only pick lower from GWS would be #1 and no way we'd be getting that for Mummy. There is a possibility that Brissy, with pick 7 might be interested if they lose Billy Longer, who is rumoured to be looking elsewhere.

Be an interesting offseason for GWS. They are reportable interested in Franklin, Martin, and Mumford, they have plenty of money for each on the table. GWS have the first pick in the Pre Season draft, which the will use to secure one of those guys! Who they decide to pick will have a bearing on what they will offer the Swans for Mumford.

If Collingwood want Mumford they will have to trade well to get him as he in not a free agent!

It could all depend on Buddy. If Buddy is gone as Caro thinks then Mumford will become Hawthorn's prime targets.

                          Buddy offer off the table

Mummy hawks - Birchall would look great in Red and White.

Thought I heard Matt White was a free agent? would be a great pick up.

If Mummy goes to Hawks I'd prefer Breust or Isaac Smith. Both handy players and both NSW boys.
If he goes to Coll, I have a feeling straight swap for Heath Shaw. I'd prefer a package deal where we get Shaw, Ben Reid and they get Mumford, 1st Rd pick and White or Lamb.

If GWS, it scares me. They could get him in the pre-season draft for nothing. I'd try and be daring if he chooses GWS and try and negotiate a trade package (Mumford being part of it) that would deliver the 1st Rd pick to us. GWS could then use their pre-season draft to get another target such as Martin. Franklin would go to them as a free-agent.

GWS could very well get Mumford for nothing in the Preseason draft, but they have to decide which is the most valuable player to use through that mechanism. Dustin Martin is not a free agent and could also be picked up through the Preseason Draft!
