Bit sad. He seemed like a really nice young man who genuinely appeared to love being involved with the Swans. Always took time to chat with supporters & sign some things ... always with a smile. Doesn't make one a great footballer, but the ressies watchers can pass judgement on that. Best of luck Alex, wherever you end up

I seen Alex Play in 2012 and I thought he showed a bit. Obviously his progression has not be satisfactory this year. Only one de-listed. I suppose Armstrong, Walsh, Lockyer might consider themselves a tad lucky.
But they must have a lot of faith in the group in the NEAFL by just dropping one player.

I would think Lockyer is safe, but the story may not be over yet for Armstrong and Walsh. We may be keeping Walsh on if we want to lure the Irish International Daniel Flynn.

I was just about to post same. It will be interesting to see how this pans out and what they offer the Swans.

It would have to be their first round Pick 18 if we compare it to Jolly. Although he will be better value than Jolly.

Bit disappointing if we do lose Mummford as I don't believe Pyke will be enough.

Over 2 years, the Hawks have made 2 x GFs and won 1. We only made 1 which we won. Therefore they could probably claim to be the best team over the 2 year period, which I think is what Mike meant. I'm ok with that - we are still 2012 premiers.

As they said on the show, the Hawks target the players they want about 18 months in advance. They need a good ruckman and Mummy is the only one off contract. I'm sure Mummy will want to have the possibility to play in another Grand Final next year so that is more likely to be Hawks than GWS. The Hawks will obviously give him the 4 years that he wants and will have plenty of money with Franklin gone.

Hopefully, we can do better than Pick 18.

Last year around this time, Gerard Whateley said with absolute conviction that Tippett was heading for GWS. He is more credible than most, but he is not infallible.

Very much from the "buy low, sell high" school of trading - no reasonable offers declined for Jesse in these circumstances. Best we can hope for is some competitive auction-style tension among bidders. Hope that there is much more than that when it comes to Mummy. Seems these days that the only three clubs that players will consider going to these days are Swans, Pies & Hawks - can't be great for the competition.

I'm not sure if the stats back that up. Last year Chris Dawe went to Melbourne, Wellingham WCE and Goddard went to Essendon (not sure that there will be players lining up to follow him this year though), Knights and Chaplin (I think) went to Tigers. Tippett's the only big name we've attracted in some time, Lynch was the Pie's main trade last year and Brian Lake went to Hawthorn. By comparison, Freo picked up three free agents.

Top players will always want to go to top teams, but they need to have the capability gaps to fill and something to trade (this is a risk with free trade). The next tier of player are probably looking for a team on the rise with a clear gap that they can fill. I'd probably want to go to Port, Bulldogs or Gold Coast if I was one of these players. Not sure what Chris Dawe was thinking.

If you believe the 'expert commentators' no one actually won it Hawthorn simply lost it!
