Regarding COLA- surely this covers the fact that there are fewer endorsement and commentating opportunities for players in Sydney. In addition there are fewer after footy positions in advertising, endorsements and media in Sydney than there are in Victoria. I am surprised that this is not mentioned more often as a defence for COLA.

As for Buddy- when I first heard I was a little shocked and bewildered, I thought we should concentrate on developing home grown players= but now I'm psyched- surely this is the biggest news since plugga came up here?

Looking forward to seeing buddy in red and white...

One person whom I expect to be very pleased with the Franklin recruitment is Ted Richards!

I wonder if we're using the 500k we're not paying Roosy to run the Academy for 3rd party/ marketing stuff. No wonder he was pissed!

I wouldn't be worried about Mummy leaving. I am sure with all the time we've had to think about this, the ruck situation will be covered.

It seems from our recruiting that we are moving away from a stoppage-centric team, at least to the extent that it will be less ruckman dependent. We are moving more toward an outside run and skill-set model of team, somewhat similar to Hawthorn.

We will go into next year with speed all over the ground: Reid and Rampe in the back, Jack and Jetta in the middle and Rohan and Buddy up forward. Speedsters like Cunningham, Towers and BJ waiting in the wings.

2014 is looking very exciting. The so-called experts seem to think so too, as the odds for winning the premiership has plummeted overnight.

It's time for ASADA to step in and issue infraction notices to Essendon players. We've hogged the headlines too long.

Watching AFL360 last night with Ted repeatedly being wrong footed, or turned inside out or simply outreached by Buddy made me thin exactly the same thing.. Bet they become good mates after pre season practice matches!

No, they do have to pay MickyO something don't they? Roosy was given big bucks to start with because he would have been expected to put in extra time anyway because this was a start up situation. He kept supplementing his income with commentating (?) the Swans games but no more, (once again I yell Yippeeee!!!!!) and OTC.

The job as described at the time is done. Now its our beloved Mick who will take it further, being fully committed to the role.......

And Ludwig - Neismith will be a keeper in a couple of years time. He has the soft touch, certainly has the height, and damned strong legs.

(rubbing hands together and giggling).....its all going to plan.....

Sorry Prim just stirring. I think this is even more fun than last year. This club certainly gives us value for our money.

I wonder how the MickyO and Buddy deals were linked. Is it just conjecture or is it fact that they're linked?

I seriously doubt that. I rather prefer Buddy and Goodes connection. It makes more sense. Mickey's appointment was probably just a coincidence.

They clearly hear us complaining about how boring off season is and have gone out of their way to give us something to talk about

Does anyone on this forum think that Bondi Beach should be renamed "Buddy Beach"?

Are we expecting bags of goals from Buddy, or will he be playing a role more like Jesse was playing, which was mostly as a Goodsey replacement???

I think the interchange cap will gradually move the game away from being a two ruckman game as well. The last guys to get rotated less are going to be the midfielders, so it's going to mean other parts of the team will have players spending more % of the time on the field. Which is all well and good if you have two high quality ruckman that can really contribute around the ground. But few teams have that, and so I think we will see more and more a case of 1 main ruckman with a forward pinch hitting becoming the norm for the league.

Naismith has the potential to be very very good I feel. I was very impressed in both the NEAFL final here in Canberra and then the Grand final on the stream by Naismith. Has the potential to be a mighty fine tap ruckman, given time.

I don't think they were linked per say, but I have little doubt that MickyO will have a big role, alongside Goodesy, in keeping Buddy in line and getting him well settled in Sydney.
