As part of the approval, AFL sought a number of written guarantees from all members of Sydney?s Board, as well as its senior management.

The 9-year agreement will apply to club's TPP for each of the nine years, regardless of how many years Franklin is available to play.Comment

Isn't that different to what Pickering said:

"It's a back-ended deal ... if he decides after the seven years or eight years to retire then he doesn't get the money."
Or does it mean that if Franklin retires, the money just sits in the Swans bank account? The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

I believe, and I may be wrong, he doesn't the get the money but the figure will be counted in the TPP.Comment

The AFL statement doesn't say how the payments are spread over the nine years, the details of that would be in the contract. So we still don't know for sure whether it's back-ended or 'middle-ended'.Isn't that different to what Pickering said:

Terry Wallace on Trade Week Radio now showing what a great decision we made not to take him on as coach. Damien Barrett whingeing and grousing alongside him.Comment

That sounds right to me. Christ I'm sick of the self-serving footy media grizzling about this. The Swans have taken a big risk to get a big reward. Other teams could have done it, but didn't. What the hell is the problem?Comment
