Good luck to Mummy, and congratulations to GWS for the first smart move they have made in the past 10 years ...even if it was made by default!!!

Mumford will be much better for their team structure and development that Buddy would ever have been! ... now they just need someone smart enough to capitalise on that and get a few more quality players to understand it too.

Buddy was never the right player for GWS (marginally better than Izzy!), but, will be a great fit at the Swans, and they will actually improve him.

Good luck Mummy, because you certainly won't be winning many games for the rest of your career.
You do realise WE forced Mummy to look elsewhere?

Twice contract negotiations were put back by the Swans and it became clear to Mummy and his management that he needed to devise a Plan B in case a contract wasn't forthcoming.

The Buddy news yesterday saw Plan B put into action.

I wish him nothing but good luck, except when playing against us of course...

GWS are in deep poop for next year. No player with any ambition will join them. The only players will be the ones chasing the coin. Buddy would have given them cred but he has actually humiliated them. Mummy is a good example and I wish him well - he has climbed the mountain with us, was forced out effectively and has set himself up for life and is being paid overs. And good luck to him too.

Already they are starting to bleed talent with Shiels and Adams.

Best case I can see is Heath Shaw coming up for a final payday, big Mummy and maybe a couple of defenders.

Guess they will definitely be stronger than last year but it's hard to see them waking a huge step. They are close to becoming irrelevant in the Sydney sporting market

So assuming we take Perris as one draft pick we will ideally want two first round draft picks from the general talent pool.
So , one player added to the Mummy deal to get the second first round pick and a delisting should do the trick...
Alex Brown is also out, which makes six, while I believe Perris will go on the rookie list as a zone selection, which brings that back to six as well.
Is Cunningham still a rookie or did we upgrade him last year?

As for Mummy, very sad to see him go, but at the end of his career he will regain his status as an All-Time Sydney Swans Premiership Legend.
Could we get #1 for Mummy and #14?

I'm with you TripleB, except that I'll come close to wishing him good luck even when he plays us. Especially until the Giants start becoming competitive. I hope he's happy with the outcome and excited by the prospect of working alongside some excellent young midfield talent.

Well done Mummy. Great 4 years at the Swans!

Congrats on the deal at GWS. He can keep living at his Bondi Apartment and hanging out with his Swans mates.

The drive to and from work will be a little longer, but he'll still have the summers in the Surf!

The only way we're getting anything is if GWS don't want to be hardasses, or if they're planning the PSD pick for someone else...

But good luck to him, we forced him out after all.

Hi all, surely one big question, who is going to ruck for swans?? Pyke is there, who's coming up ? Is LRT going to have a crack? goodsey used till he did his knee first time. I think letting mummy go is a mistake

As long as it is fair. We will probably really only have two proper draft picks after we take Perris and upgrade four rookies so unless we get an upgrade of one of our two top picks then they can whistle in the wind and take their chances

I'm happy to let him go for free and for us to throw a further spanner into their works.

Reality will probably be that they trade 2/3 kids they really want to keep, get 2/3 journeymen and a heap of kids....

They should come good eventually but draft picks isn't enough alone. Think they just need to stay the course and wait for Boyd, Cameron and Patton to grow up - IF they can keep those three together then their side in three years is a frightening prospect.

If they add Mumford, Shaw, a key defender and a mid that would go halfway to them being competitive. Still reckon 4 wins will be a good result for them next year and they are miles behind GCS at the same stage

I'd go with Pyke with KT providing support up front and LRT down back.

Problem will be if Pyke gets is injured, perhaps we draft KT in and bring Reid up from CHB. Naismith sounds like he may be a season off so I'd be tempted to go for an experienced ruckman for backup if we can afford one.

I agree with the Buddy deal but it certainly throws up a lot of issues.....

Gws have said they have other plans for pick1 in the psd so I think we're probably in line for a reasonable trade. If we really wanted to ruin their plans we could refuse to trade and force him into the psd.......or are they just saying that?????

Just remember Pyke played seniors 6~7 games into his first season. Taubert is the world's best ruck coach and has 5months to get Pat Mitchell up to speed. Naismith will benefit from a full preseason too.

Can't see the Swans playing silly buggers at the trade table regarding Mumford. They'll want to do the right thing by the player, even if they don't care about GWS. He's a part of Sydney's premiership tapestry, after all.

I would accept their 3 round pick, which would be around 37 or so, but a pick in the 50s is just not worth it. It's a bit of an insult. I'm resigned that he will go to the PSD. I'm happy for Mummy, but wouldn't look too kindly on GWS if that happened.
