Hmmm ... lots of talk here about GWS but all I can focus on when I read the article is Caro (hater of anything not Melb) Wilson agitating about COLA right before the decision on it gets made. There isn't a single sentence in the entire article that presents any alternative position ... no quote from the decision-making authorities about their reaction to GWS/Eddie/Kochie/etc quotes ... not even a response quote from Swans mgt. Any real journalist would have contacted multiple parties and published all sides opinions. She is not a journalist, rather a mouthpiece for Melb-based AFL interests. I'd bet she got those "quotes" from the GWS boss by asking very leading questions.

We won't be competive without COLA. As happened before we had it most young players will head straight homeYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

It may not be as bad as you expect. The difference now is that players want to come to the club, and especially if they are among the more highly paid, may be prepared to pay a bit for the position. I suspect that even if the COLA doesn't survive in its present form, the players on lower pay rates may still get some assistance, as in my opinion they should. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. How we will pay for Franklin
#1. The next TV rights deal, from 2017, tipped to be around 25% higher at $1.5b-1.6b.
The AFL's broadcasting rights could be worth $1.6b in 2016
#2. A single football dept spending cap instead of player payments cap (as predicted by Ireland apparently)

Surely GWS should have their COLA chopped. Western Sydney is way cheaper than the Eastern Suburbs!Comment

Caro reporting Swans likely to lose COLA altogether. I suppose we should take this as a sign that we are now officially feared.
