So what's everyone looking for tonight?

    For mine:
    - rucks. Our three guys vying to be Pyke's understudy up against Mummo and Giles
    - of the young players most likely to step up, the biggest buzz over summer seems to be about Marsh, Towers, Harry, and BJ.
    - who are our small forwards and how do they get used
    - plus Shanda/Chanda - excitement machine

    2. Rhyce Shaw, 3. Jarrad McVeigh, 4. Daniel Hannebery, 5. Ryan O'Keefe, 6. Tom Mitchell, 7. Harry Cunningham, 9. Nick Malceski, 11. Jeremy Laidler, 12. Josh Kennedy, 13. Toby Nankervis, 14. Craig Bird, 15. Kieren Jack, 16. Gary Rohan, 18. Jordan Lockyer, 19. Tom Derickx, 20. Sam Reid, 21. Ben McGlynn, 22. Dean Towers, 24. Dane Rampe, 25. Ted Richards, 26. Luke Parker, 27. Daniel Robinson, 31. Harrison Marsh, 33. Brandon Jack, 35. Sam Naismith, 36. Aliir Aliir, 39. Heath Grundy, 40. Nick Smith, 44. Jake Lloyd.

A good chance to see how our rookie rucks polish up. I'll be watching.

            happy so far

the boys are puffing massively - especially BJ

            structurally loving our :

            - Pressure on the ball
            - man on man intensity
            - counter punch out of our defensive 50marc thru hand has been solid and by foot not too bad for our first qtr since 2013
            - leading up into the midfield by our mid talls in Rohan and Towers as targets has been very encouraging

Like the speed in the forward line - can see why towers was picked first round. Gets under his kicks a bit, but leads well and good hands

I think rok could be the player most likely to slip out of the side. Scary how quickly things can change. He often looks like he is going up and down on the same spot these days

This gets trotted out every season. He always starts slow. He coasts in these games.

Rohan looked good tonight and a nice win by the Swans. I would like to see a forward line of Tippett,Franklin and Goodes with outside runners of Rohan and Jetta. But I have heard very little about Jetta and he had a stinker of a year last season. Does anyone know who he is progressing with his training?

                        Nanny - good start
BJ - solid but struggling with cardio
                        Parker - strong
Reid - back to his high flying best
Towers - made his mark tonight and throws the cat amongst the pigeons

TomD - solid and didnt let mummy get ahead
McVeigh - oh captain my captain
McGlynn - strong at the ball
                        Kennedy - class
                        Hannes - very competitive

Jetta had knee surgery in the off season (clean up) so we probably won't see him until if lucky I'm guessing Round One?

Very impressed with Mitchell. Picked up with his form from last year.

Sammy and Harry were my other BOGs.

Having a fit Rohan and Reid will be like having a couple of extra players in our line up this year. Plus one more once AJ is right. You could almost say the same about Shaw too. Shaw, Mitchell, Reid, Rohan, Parker all very solid tonight.

I was most worried about the ruck going in to the game - Derrickx and Naismith both competed very well.

Nothing better than Sam Reid reaching up and taking some strong contested marks. He was great early along with Towers who will be a great depth player for us this season.

Perhaps he spoiled us too much last year, but I thought Rampe was a little under par.

Did anyone think Simon Katich as giants runner was interesting! Maybe he is there to ensure all GWS players celebrate their wins! If a GWS player tries to leave early to tender to the needs of model girlfriends, Katich will have them by the throat!
