They are pretty good, aren't they.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

For those critical of Laidler, we better get used to him, since AJ looks as if he's no coming back for a while and LRT offered nothing today.

Reid did okay when he rucked in the 4th quarter, meaning, not any worse that LRT. The way Reid and Buddy played, they are going to have to do some ruck work to offer even a small fraction of value for money.

Our speedsters, Rowan and Jetta, are going to have to do more.

I can't see ROK getting a game based on his 4th qtr.

Maybe we have to consider Derickx instead of LRT until Tippett returns.

        Looking at some positives:

        - Ryce Shaw's comeback from an ACL in late 2013 was remarkable. He had his pace and his drive back. This should give Alex Johnson some hope.
        - Rampe and LRT gave there usual tenacity.

        Concerns

        - Many players out of form (Franklin, ROK, Hanna's, Jetta).
        - Swans are poor in wet conditions, like Port Adelaide last year.
        - Pyke worked hard and broke even with Mumford, but we will be exposed against teams who play two big ruckman.
        - Goal Kicking is very poor.

Please give us a dry field next, so handling and confidence can return!

Not a bad assessment (mug punter) though a bit harsh on pyke and Jetta did at least show glimpses, cause he hardly touched the ball last year. But it looks like the Buddy affect has taken place, just like I thought. In 2012 we were street fighters now we are prima donnas. Just like " oh I will get the easy ball from a lucky bounce or a handball and even if Buddy has 4 players on him or is in a headlock, well I will still kick it to him and sit back and watch". It will be an ordinary year and I will be surprised if we even make the final eight. As for GWS they maintained the pressure for four quarters, which is what good sides do. With Cameron and Patton up forward, whoever takes this team lightly will be taking a big risk. I think they will knock over a few more big scalps this season.

Hey people. Leave Franklin alone. He was not great, but everyone has a bad game. Adam Goodes almost got dropped by Roos in 2007 after some poor early season form! It happens.

Franklins chasing, tackling and harassing was excellent, highlighted by his tackle late in the 2nd quarter.

He is perhaps, anxious and is trying too hard to make an impact. Conditions were crap for him to use his brilliance!

Be patient people, Buddy will win some games and give special moments to saviour.

Have a look at the football now! GCS are ahead of Richmond. These expansion teams are coming on now!

'if Buddy has 4 players on him or is in a headlock,'

if we can't win when other teams are so pre-occupied or the umpires so biased, then yes, we are rooted.
I had forgotten that Reid is on a pretty cushy deal, given what he has been delivering.

Just a reminder, LRT hasn't played for 12 months.
Takes some players a while to get back into the pace of the game.

Forget top four - we didn't look like a top fourteen side today. I hope this is a massive wake up call.

Based on that effort by GWS they will be very very competitive as they should be given their talent base. Shame no one in Sydney gives a flying toss about them.....

They were assisted by a truly gutless performance by the men in red and white. It's early days but I see nothing in that performance to indicate that we can be a top 8 team.

Pyke was great last year as a number two ruckman and a decent alternate route to goal - he is not a number 1 ruckman and I fear we will be found out in that area very badly. He was a great pick 20-22 but a poor pick 6-10 as we are now expecting him to be.

We have terrible depth - Laidler is rubbish and the we even have Derrickx on our list shows the price we have paid to have that fat lazy party boy wandering around our forward line....

We are a bad wet weather team: why is that? Poor handling, aimless kicking, players left clutching at air.

                          Observations:
? Missed Jack and Bolton making smart plays under pressure.
? I didn't think Laidler was bad at all.
? Franklin lacked intensity and fitness.
? Speaking of lack of intensity, what's with Hanners?
? Pyke needs more help in the ruck.
? Up for it: Shaw, Parker, Mitchell, Ted, Grundy.
? I thought Jetta was OK, but agree with the poster who suggested that he and Rohan need more of it.

LRT and ROK are both running on old old legs.

Wrong question. A better question is whether we can trade Buddy to GWS for either Cameron or Patton. Either would do.

LRT competed and gave a solid contest like he always does! He did not look slow.

ROK had little time to get going! His kicking has lost penetration and his vision is shot! I also believe he is feeling dispirited and unloved and this will affect his performance!
