Don't get me wrong. Some people do come back quick. It depends on the severity of the fracture, associated soft tissue trauma, rehab etc.
just don't be surprised if it's taking time. As I said, his return is remarkable in many ways. Jamie Lawson fractured his leg & the promising career of "Speedy Gonzalas" was over

      Derickx's tap work was good.
But the rovers did not make the most of it. Maybe they - or he - just need to communicate better.

Disposal was well below par - turned it over too often and fumbled too often.

Benny can hold his head high - a real terrier and our creative spark. He's also a good tackler , which unfortunately means he has to do a bit of tagging , too.

Harry had a decent game - among other things , that pass to Rampe for his goal was a beauty.

Mike Pyke was pretty decent , too.

ROK still looking off the pace , but he is a champion , so it'sd much too early to write him off.

Hanners was better this time , though still below his best.

Teddy getting his paws to White's shot was a great effort.Overall , he and Reg performed ok on Cloke.

Jack was anonymous . Kennedy and Parker tried hard , but they played well below their best.

In the past few seasons , this game could have been a Grand Final preview. But not today. Collingwood were not that hot - but they were still better than we were.Frost looks a good find.

        Is that true?
Can't be, we made a grand final after losing to Essendon and Port (who finsihed 15th and 12th) in the first two games of 2006.

Just got back after the very long trip up and down the hume, and I must say I was exceptiobally disappointed tonight. We look a long way off the pace and had a lot of passengers tonight. Had no forward structure, the midfield was made to look slow by collingwood and our skill errors and turnovers are what you expect from a very average side.

The players need an almighty kick up the arse after the first 2 efforts, or else its going to be a very looong year. If they play as poorly next week in adelaide we will be in real trouble, despite adelaide getting flogged today!

Only good part out of today was I finally took the plunge and had some $$ on the pies to beat us - paid for the trip with about $5 to spare, so some small consolation.

I thought gws was a blip but something seems very wrong to me. Lets hope is it just genuinely a poor start to the season and not a sign of other issues.

For mine, Buddy has been told to play upfield too much. I prefer him closer to goal. Sheesh Shaw was really terrible tonight.
I felt we really over-handballed at times.. and yes completely agree that Maxwell should have been matched up on.
Hopefully next week will restore some faith...
Id be happy if we played anyone near goal! The amount of times we had 1 person only up forward against 3 or 4 pies was ridiculous. No structure at all up forward.

We will want to play well next week or ill personally find my way around to the race area to give them a spray at full time haha. I dont want to travel to adelaide to see us dish up that crap again. But as with life, hope springs eternal and I feel the only way is surely up from here, otherwise we are in for a sad season.

Out: Spineless, limp 4th quarter capitulation.

In: Heart and some bloody fight for a change.

Agree with all of this, there are heaps of positives to take out of this game. Buddy around the stoppage looks awesome, Sam Reid had his best game since the 2012 grand final, Pyke played like a top ruckman again. If we can get the core midfield group a bit slicker (Jack, Kennedy, Parker, Mitchell) and get Tippet or Goodes back into the forward line we will be seriously formidable this year!

Rampe is my pick though, that guy looks seriously good. I hope he stays fit and we get to watch him play each week.

Also, its much nicer having White go missing when he is not playing for the Swans!

Well said. There were lots of positives. Still math conditioning to go and structures to be refined and gel and lots of little things to click but there were good signs.

Don't panic supporters. Tweaks needed just wait till it clicks

Pendelbury runs loose all night and Bird sits on the bench. Stupid move having him as the sub. Bird starts every time for mine.
Parker is as slow as treacle and his disposal last night was very dodgy.
Kennedy is held at every stoppage. A player as good as has him a bear hug before the contest. Happens too often to most good midfielders and has to be stopped.
Overall a poor performance in a game that we should have won. No one running to space, slow delivery from a mark or free, second to the footy, poor handball, too much handball at times, clearly no structure forward of centre and woeful forward pressure. They just took the footy from our forward line with ease; and not just because they had loose players back. When we had a stoppage in our 50 they just brushed us aside. Weak stuff.

Amen - Pendlebury tore us apart because of that.

I just didn't see his game this way. He had 14 possessions for the game (according to afl.com.au), 7 of which were clangers, gave away a free kick and laid only one tackle.

I like Shaw's attitude and speed, two qualities that I wish would rub off onto some others, but while he is a great runner of the ball, he is a horrible deliverer. Mind you, for large parts of the game, he had hardly anyone to deliver to.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

If you watched the Saints GWS game you would know that we have been huge losers in getting rid of a powerhouse prime mover ruckman for an overrated flawed half forward flanker. If it was our choice to let Mummy go someone should be shot.
