Most of you will yell back at me and say "it's none of your business", but why not an explanation like:

    - friends of Tom D or Hanners
    - friends of other friends of Buddy's

The public were never given an explanation as what were the two women's link to Buddy or the other players.

Speculation has mounted since the non-explanation was given.

This reporting is not bullying, and a simple explanation by Buddy or the club as to who they were, would have quashed speculation.

Buddy is a figure of public interest, and the Swans are letting the media control the situation. Calling the media bullies is poor media management and there has to be a better plan than that!

      The solution is simple:

Buddy need a biographer. He give someone exclusive rights to his biography called "Being Buddy" and whenever he leaves the house the biographer drives and accompanies him wherever he goes. Problem solved.

I'm not trying to sound offensive or accusatory but how would you deal with the Buddy media situation?
What would you say to sway things?

But why do you, or the public 'need' an explanation?

          It's just pathetic.

Matt80 seems to be getting more negative attention on this thread than Buddy is in the media

If Buddy and the Swans had laughed off the story, with a simple, understandable explanation, then the story would have been killed.

They chose to target the media's reporting, leading to speculation that there may have been truth in the headline.

I don't know the actual truth and very few do!

If there was some truth with that headline, then the media have caught him out! That is not bullying, that is the media at its best.

Why does Buddy need his Chairmen to cry that the story is bullying if there was a simple explanation for it?

A lot of people on this forum are very intelligent consumers of media, but you have to understand that much of population out there love their tabloid News Lt Gossip reporting. They love the Beach Buddy headline. If you denigrate News Ltd tabloid reporting that shows that you are not understanding the common man!

By "laugh off", are you suggesting they be flippantly dismissive of a motor vehicle accident that did significant damage to 5 cars?

I just want to clarify that I am not misinterpreting you.

Because if a player is caught speeding or drink driving (and no damage is done to anything or anyone), the player and the club typically receive negative publicity in the media (and there is usually some punishment from the club).

If the club & Buddy were to "laugh off" thousands of dollars damage to people's property I think the media would have a field day.

The common man is fine (more or less). My gripe is with the very common man who owns News Corpse.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                        QFT.

Matt80 I don't want to be mean here, but what you are saying is incredibly naive. You severely underestimate the intentions and priorities of the media. Yes, all of the speculation and media interest needed was a simple explanation and this innocent misunderstanding would have gone away. Obviously.

More laughable is your suggestion that the FOOTBALL club release a media statement regarding the nature of Franklin's relationship with two women he was in the company of at the beach amongst his friends and half the population of Sydney. Clearly he was cheating on his girlfriend.

Take this from a common women, that's some crazy level of delusion...

I meant the Beach Story, not the car crash story.

The reporting on the car crash story has been fine and people will note that the media quickly ruled out any sniff of alcohol involvement.

I am copping some heat, but you have to be brave sometimes with your opinions.

For the record I'm not suggesting that Buddy is part of any wrong doing in the beach story. The fact is we don't know the story or who the participants were.

I object to the story being called bullying. The women's mags have been doing that style of reporting on celebrities for many years.

Buddy is a public figure and people are interested in this stuff.

I leave you with one question to ponder:

"Why have you not seen a gossipy stories on Kurt Tippett in his 18 months at the Swans"? He is a big moneyed recruit, good looking bloke, high calibre player, who the Swans recruited in a blaze of publicity.

Could it be that Kurt has kept a low profile and quietly gone about his business or have the media bullies taken pity on Kurt and left him alone.

The media are like flirtatious women. You don't give them any sniff, and they will lose interest and find someone else to flirt with!

The weather is cold now! Buddy just needs six months of giving the media nothing and they will move on.

Kurt who? Seriously, Kurt wasnt a big-time player in the Melbourne football world so the Sydney media have no idea who he is.
I wonder how many listed players in the AFL had a car accident in the last 12 months and why is it that only the two accidents involving Buddy or his car are reported on as if there is a conspiracy/cover-up, and what makes it 'news' in the first place?
Whenever I see these sort of beat-ups about someone else's personal life I ask myself three questions:
                              1. Is it of any relevance to me?
                              2. Do I even have a right to know or am I simply degrading myself by being dragged into gossip?
                              3. Is there a simple explanation and has the media given a skewed report?

99 times out of 100, I dont get beyond the first question.

Kurt Tippett was the biggest name in South Australian football. It was huge news when he came to the Swans after they won a premiership.

Kurt has gone about his business quietly. He has not been photographed at racing festivals with Kate Upton, he had not been photographed on party boats, has not been photographed with glamours women or crashed his car multiple times.

Kurt is the model of media management that Buddy needs to follow!
