No I wasn't happy with our passing game nor execution in general and yes if we brought that form any other week against half the teams in the comp we may have lost.......always difficult to say with confidence because the Demons lifted and probably played their best in 2014.................just like GWS did week 1 with the same style of footy as we play and beat us to the punch !

The Demons have abandoned attacking football for "Bloods" contested football and who better to test it against then the mighty predictable swans

Pauls direction is starting to filter thru and I must admit I do hope the Demons lift and rise above their seasons past..............I really don think there are many supporters that would wish a team to go through what Melb have gone thru the last 10 seasons !
I admit to having the same feelings about the Dees, but two years ago I felt sorry for Port and look how they've repaid my sympathy.

His skills around the ground are poor and LRT I think is clearly better. Add to that the flexibility to play LRT forward or in defence.

As I have mentioned previously, I think the coaching staff must have some health concerns with Pyke. Derrickx then gets played as a back up ruck, and if Pyke goes down LTR comes in as number two.
I agree with this except the list managers can be forgiven to some extent since they must have felt a bit of desperation. At the time of TD's signing we hadn't drafted Nanko yet and Naismith spent most of the year injured (and given that he's injured again, he may end up being a bit fragile; these things happen).

I think TD is a 1 year safety valve and doubt he will be around next year.

Having both Derickx and LRT on the field at the same time is a detriment to the team. Even one is a handicap.

If you were going to have your best year ever would you really being play football for Melbourne ?
I was at the game and close to the boundary and listening to the way the Demon supporters gave it to him I can't say I really blame him for appearing disinterested.
I know some players try our patience but I have always felt that you should never bag them within their earshot especially in front of opposition supporters.

I reckon Jack Watts in the right environment has plenty of good football left in him after all he is only 23 FGS!!

Remember 05 and how totally dominating The Crows were? After round 6 in 2005 we were twelfth and looking anything but a premiership threat, pretty much like this year to date!

I thought that half way through last year that Watts would be a prime target for a Swans rehabilitation, but Roos got him across the line in Melbourne.

He impressed as an underage footballer, and was drafted at pick one. He is 196cm, but can't put on the weight or bulk to play a key position. LRT was slight when he first came to the Swans, but had played 1st Grade Rugby for Shore in the tough GPS competition, and was always tough and super competitive. LRT was also able to put on weight and play a key position.

Jack then needs to play as a tall utility, but does not possess the confidence of a Nat Fyfe, Dyson Heppell or Jeremy Howe.

He looks like he is a good guy and I hope he lives up to his talent. Maybe he is like Jesse White and needs a new system that believes in him!

I thought if the Swans were able to get him, then Adam Goodes could have taught him how to play the tall utility role and he would have been thrived in a quieter environment.

I do hope so. Our skill level right now pales compared to those 3!

The ironic cheers every time he took a mark, and then the hoots as he got caught like a deer in the headlights are not good for his confidence.

I think most of his trouble is in his head, and there is probably no better person than Roos to get that straight.

You have to feel for the bloke. Perhaps he is another Jesse who would fulfil his potential at another club. And not in Vic.

I was taken aback by the way Melbourne supporters swung between euphoria ((when Demons kicked a goal) and abuse of their own players when they lost the ball. Perhaps they've needed to have an emotional release to survive the bad times. And may be I am mollycoddled by usually sitting in a Swans members area. But in my experience Swans fans groan when we stuff up but on the whole we don't abuse our own players.

Jack has been very badly managed by the Demons. IIRC he came on for his debut in firsts the season after he was drafted and was promptly set upon and bashed up by three or four Collingwood players. If he'd been a Swan he'd have spent his first year in the twos, would have had to earn his debut, and would be both more skilful and more confident. If the need arises for a tall utility, I'd be inclined to give him a go, depending who was available of course. I imagine nothing would give him more satisfaction than to run on for a decent club against Melbourne at the MCG. In the meantime I hope Roos can turn him around.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

How well is Jesse doing at Collingwood? He is playing his role really well and is forming a powerful combination with Cloke. Every goal he kicks for Collingwood and there has been a few of those, should be celebrated by those on this forum who believed in him, when the coaching staff and so many did not!

Jack watts is a replica of everitt and saddington. Not strong enough and never will be to play as a key defender. Good skills but lacks the ability to play really tight. He might work as a bachir houli type as a looseish third defender flanker or wingman. But that is not really a swans type player. Our flankers have to start by beating their man then play for the ball.

I just can't see him thriving with us.

As an aside of the melbourne players that have moved on none have done really well. Moloney is nothing special at Brisbane, Sylvia can't get a game at freo, rivers is playing third tall defender at Geelong, Morton can't get a game and so on.

                            I'd steer clear personally.

Or 2012. About this time the argument was over whether Carlton or Essendon would take the flag. I remember watching Before the Game or one of those and one presenter said that you couldn't discount Sydney after we beat Hawthorn in Tas. All he got was a few snickers and 'yeah good one'.
