He wanted to make a comment back but I think he was at least smart enough to realise that he had nothing. That's the thing with Essendon supporters they know their club is dying a slow death or at best heading toward a considerable period of time where they wont be able to compete and there is nothing they can do about it. We should never feel pity for them. They bought this on themselves.
There were a few swans caps at windy hill on Saturday.
I even got a few looks in the Bombers Shop whilst wearing mine.

I know everyone goes on and on about Collingwood fans but I find Essendon fans the worse of the lot. I had a shocking experience at the first round game in 06 V The Bombers and I swore then I would never attend an interstate Bombers game again. I hope their club never comes good and they have a decade plus of what The Dees fans have had to face.

I feel sorry for the players, particularly the very young ones who were really compelled to believe and trust everything that arrogant wanker Hird said to them. As far as everyone and everything else associated with them - SUFFER!!!!!!

All comes down to personal experience I think. I've always found Hawthorn supporters to be the worst but I've probably just mixed with the wrong ones.

Every club has good and bad supporters. Including ours.

Hear, hear. Making provocative and snarky remarks to departing supporters of other clubs when you've got the game won is churlish at best. Why people can't enjoy a win without getting stuck into opposition supporters is beyond me. There are always childish supporters but retaliating against them drags you down to their level. The idea that behaving like this makes footy more fun is mystifying to me.

It depends on the situation. When you are surrounded at an away game, and their mouth breathers spend the entire game slandering your team, players, COLA and the umpire assisted free ride. It's pretty funny when a chant breaks out singing them goodbye as the dozens depart the stairs. It's all fun and games. I'm sure it wouldn't have happened if they weren't dishing it out prior.

My view is that I'm happy for it to go either way.

Generally, opposition fans are great in Australia (try some Premier League games if you want to see nasty behaviour). You can have a laugh, a good chat, some friendly banter and there is nothing nasty (a recent example for me was the Adelaide game earlier this year or the Lions game in brisbane).

Or they can be snarly, whinging, whining, annoying fans (like a few near me on Friday night, or generally many Collingwood fans), who as magic merkin said, make the entire game pretty unpleasant through the constant rubbish flowing out of their mouths. If fans are like that, then i'm happy to give them a friendly bit of encouragement on their way out.

Its part of going to the footy - and as long as its not done in a nasty manner, then I don't have a problem with it. If, on the other hand, it gets really personal, is nasty and over the top, then its another thing all together and I think it's pretty clear, that is inappropriate.

Essendon supporters are the biggest whinging flogs in the game. I had the displeasure and pleasure (by giving it back to them) about the umpires and about them booing Goodesy the whole game, and it only made me realise how bad they really are. Every single decision and non decision about the umpiring was about them, and whenever we got a freekick, it was wrong. Disgusting, drug cheating, flogs. I had the pleasure of absolutely giving it to a bloke sitting in a box behind me, who was calling Goodes a sook the whole game. At half time I kindly let him know what I thought.

Well done Essendon for dealing with it so quickly and effectively. Not often you get to say that.

who's their president? Does he have a radio show to undo the good work? ;d

As said though, it's great for them to be so proactive, also encouraging it was his own peers that gave him up.

I am pretty sure these are the two Essendon fans I sat behind at the footy last Friday night. (Language warning)

I had to turn round and request a Sydney supporter to 'give it a rest' at the Freo game. And we were winning!! Fortunately he toned it down. I don't mind a commentary, but enjoy the bloody game for pete's sake, and if you are not enjoying the game - leave and take your female companions who are discussing the upcoming mother's meeting of the local preschool with you.

                          Whinge over. For now.

I hope you don't follow me on twitter. I love the banter. Heard some classic one liners on Friday. All part of the fun. Been giving and taking for years. Shake hands after the game and have a beer.
