Why wouldn't the club just do salary negotiations as normal? Cola was always an add-on to the package, wasn't it?
Contract negotiations

Cola isn't dead. It's being renamed and rejigged. Until the club is sure how much they'll have to negotiate with it's in everyone's best interests to wait and see.Comment

Can see Goodesy, ROK and LRT retiring which will free up the best part of $1.5M in our salary cap.According to Swans put contracts on hold over cost of living allowance uncertainty - sydneyswans.com.au
the following players will be out of contract at the end of the year:
Free agents: Adam Goodes, Nick Malceski, Ryan O'Keefe and Lewis Roberts-Thomson
Out of contract: Mike Pyke, Rhyce Shaw, Craig Bird, Harry Cunningham, Alex Johnson, Jordan Lockyer, Tim Membrey and Xavier Richards
Can't see Membery or Richards X staying. Doubt that Goodes, Malceski, Shaw, Bird, Pyke or Cunningham would be looking for a move.
Of the rest I'd say Shaw and Pyke have another year or two and would not demand huge coin. Malceski, Bird and Cunningham definitely the priorities who should be able to have any pay increases absorbed into the money saved by retirements.
Remember that Buddy is "only" on $700K a year this year and next, rising to $1.2 in year three.
There'll be the odd player shedded like with Mumford but I think the impact of Buddy's contract on our list management has been exaggeratedComment

I think the contract negotiations will also depend on what the Swans want to do with their rookie list.
You would assume that Lloyd will stay upgraded. They may also decide to upgrade the likes of Naismith, Biggs and Lloyd Perris.
I understand that we need to take at least three players in the NAB draft! How many players to we need to take in the NAB draft if we upgrade multiple rookies?Comment
