    Hannebery's "Bump"

I have a tonne of manure on standby for the AFL if Hanners is rubbed out for going for the ball.

The Fox Footy panel was spot on when they said it was Hurleys poor technique that led to the head knock. Hanners had eyes for the footy, protected the space and won the ball. What was his other option. Hopefully sanity will prevail but I wouldn't count on it with the AFL.

Very hard one to call. However, even if the tribunal rules against him, I can't see where the 4-6 weeks that the panel was throwing up there came from. It would get judged as negligent and medium impact at worst. I think the Roughhead one was ruled to be negligent and low impact, even though McGlynn went off the ground. McGlynn came back shortly afterwards, as did Hurley.

Roughhead was watching McGlynn, Hannebery was watching the ball.

Hanneberry was neither careless or reckless, he was going for the football as I believe you are still allowed to do in this game.

No way in the world should he have a case to answer but no one seems to have any idea what is going on at the AFL these days

Rougheads was a bump, Hanneburys wasn't.

Hannebery can't be criticised for the way he approached the ball. Hurley on the other hand had very little regard for his own safety and bent his head right over the ball. The AFL can't punish a player when he's met his duty of care after you are the idiots who have incentivised players going in so low so to draw the head high contact. That's your inefficiency. If both players did happen to go in head first the repercussions are far more serious.

Hurley ducked into the contest. I thought the AFL made that an offence last year. A number of Essendon players also did it. A couple of our boys too. how long before someone gets seriously hurt.

I was at the game so I didn't hear any radio/tv commentary. What were the opinions of the commentators about it?

Thought Hanners was very smart on the way he grabbed his ribs.
Then when he looked up he took himself off the ground when he saw Hurley on the laying ground.

Based on how long the game has been played and how many of these types of injuries have been serious?
Not sure. Maybe someone can provide some stats

Really shouldn't go for that especially as he won the ball. The thing is with the current rule whenever there's high contact I just assume that it's going to get looked at now! Think the rule needs to be clarified more than anything.

                              Probably spot on.
