Josh Kennedy. Is he the best ever midfielder we've had?

Josh is now playing at a level where he just commands the ball and wins almost every contest

Best midfielder we have ever had. Better than Williams, better than Bedford. There I said it.

Probably won't win a brownlow, due to Ablett being so dominant at Gold Coast but he is better at getting the ball and more effective disposal than both those former club champions

    Jeez, massive, massive call mate.

Kennedy is a contested animal, yes. Is he the best all round midfielder we have ever had? Not in my book. Goodes at his peak, and Kelly will always be the best two we've seen IMO. I love Joey and what he brings, and he's definitely developed into a fairly all round midfielder, but still think a Goodes at his peak and a Paul Kelly bursting out of packs are the two best I've seen.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Get back to me when he's won 3 Brownlows. Bob Skilton is still the best.

He's certainly making a name for himself.
I love him to death (please don't tell Goodesy).
He's an awesome kid who'll finish with a brownlow before he retires.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I can't wait for the naming of the Swans best team for 125 years! Poor Wazza probably won't even make the short list. Who from the last 5 years and the next 10 years will be in it? Who would drop out? Wrong spot for it & might deserve its own thread but Joey will be there

Skilton played a totally different role, genuine rover. Kennedy is a pure centre man just like Williams and Bedford. Only better

Goodes is a superstar who is more than just a midfielder.

Well... could be a contender for the best ever from 1982 onwards.

All the way back to 1874 is a little doubtful. Though he's only 25 (?), so who knows... maybe he could be.

I thought I was his number one fan - clearly not! He is an absolute gun but I couldn't go that far.

Best I can remember. Incredibly consistent. It his record in finals that stands alone.

                    Certainly better than Diesel.

It is a shame we cannot see him and PK play together, with Kelly's explosiveness and speed

Superb player. I think of him as a stronger, taller, more skilled version of Brett Kirk.

It remains to be seen if he can develop into the leader of men that Brett Kirk was.

                        Best ever clearance player....probably.

                        Best ever midfielder.....no.

Skilton, Kelly and Goodes were all 'midfielders'.

Skiltons record, in a poor side, stands alone.

Diesel, Kelly, Kirk, Bolton, Goodes and Kennedy all have that x factor in their game but very different midfielders which makes it so hard to say who was or is best !

I must say i am a little biased towards Diesel - i just loved his handpassing most off all...........the guy always looked he had so much time............ it was if he was in a different time zone and had spiders on his back.........for me the main reason he he appeared to have so much time was his vision and length of handpassing........

he didnt have to set for a kick as he handpassed 30m on the nose of his target hence being so upright with 180 degree vision right to the last moment which gave his fellow players so much more time to move into the correct space

BUT could he kick and kick at goal ??

yes he could ........he was often deadly !
