    Andrew Ireland on 3AW

Andrew Ireland on 3AW said tonight that the swans earnt $200,000 more in seat tickets for the Port Adelaide game than was budgeted at the start of the year. Well that's a fiftth of his salary for this year in one game. He also discussed the renewal of the ANZ Stadium deal and said that the deal is more complicated than what people think, as by having the other stadium it makes the SCG negotiate a better deal, he went on to say that there are plans for a roof on ANZ Stadium ( as per previous posts on here) and that in the next deal they hope to negotiate some of the bigger clubs to be played at SCG not ANZ and possibly finals. Looks like ANZ deal will sill exist in some format.

Is Buddy's salary not Ireland's - no idea what his salary is.

Unfortunately the Homebush deal is more complicated due to Mike Fitzpatrick's finger being in the pie.....

Great news re last weekends ticket sales anyway....

ANZ is getting a major rredevlopment with a roof. Wouldn't want to lose it as an AFL venue

A roof would be great, fast dry track could just suit us :-)

It'll never be a fast track while NRL is played there...For starters the grass is too long for AFL.

Added to that, they keep moving stands over the wings, for the Rugby and NRL, which will ensure the wings are always substandard.

Not sure a dry cow paddock is much better than a wet one.

It wouldn't necessarily be lost to AFL - when all those shiny new fans sell out GWS' current home, it can be all theirs.

Sorry to be ignorant is getting to it that much of a hassle , i know the travel seems a tad long , but you still get to see them play. I dont think the club is strong enough to pick and chose , thinking of the future more seats more money.Doesnt look the ideal place to play but 2 teams play on it and they are the best players in Australia ( supposedly) ?

The seating configuration, and therefore the viewing, is what I don't like about ANZ. A roof won't improve that.

Besides, it will all come down to money. It always does.

This is the sticking point, as Ireland points out. We need to have ANZ in the frame so as to apply some pressure to the relatively unsympathetic SCG Trust, who have been responsible for installing new stands that (it seems to me) are designed to keep the sun off cricket crowds rather than the rain off AFL crowds.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Spot on. ANZ coming along went a long way to making the swans viable, as they could renegotiate a better deal from the SCG.

For this reason, ANZ will always get a few games a year, to keep it in our back pocket. ANZ basically give the games away, so nice little earners for us.
