Being from Canberra, would you like to see Manika Oval as more part of the mix?

The SCG probably does have a superior surface because it gets far less use than ANZ. Also, all ANZ games are at night when the dew factor makes things more slippery.
ANZ has hosted some absolute cracker games, like the collingwood final 2 years ago. the recent Hawthorn one was good to. The size of the ground (long and skinny) is good for fast flowing AFL.
With a roof on ANZ, wet weather footy will be a long forgotten memory, except when we have to play at the cricket oval at Moore park. Remember what a woeful game that Geelong Semi was in 2005, until Nick Davis when bang, bang, bang... and bang.Last edited by barry; 19 June 2014, 11:42 AM.Comment

Lets keep both! with Minimum 3 games and finals at ANZ.Comment

I want to play at both venues. Both venues are addressing their problems. A tram from central to moore park will overcome its access problems a bit. A roof at ANZ will solve slippery-ness and enclose the atmosphere better.

I seem to remember the best games out at ANZ being day games - TDL Carlton tackle, Irish Lion pirouette (those might actually be the only 2??)
If we've going to have to have games at ANZ lets have some (all?) during the day.-Comment

If the swans are considering playing in Canberra, why not consider playing elsewhere, somewhere actually in their zone, like say, Newcastle?Comment

I'd expect the reason is Northern Swan that the ACT Government has a particularly generous sports Minister who likes his AFL a lot,and the Swans can see it as a viable pay day through some good $$$$ coming in. After all, the ACT Gov is paying 2.6 million a year for the Giants to play down here!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

However the tenders are also out for reconfiguring the stands. Im not exactly sure what this means but I think its making the goal end stands slidable.
It may also address viewing angles for other areas. This is an issue for all codes.
Afl will need to maintain an interest to avoid the ground losing its AFL configuration option.
Last time we played there the surface was fine. Better than the SCG was last weekend I might add.
A lot of you crtics are being very subjective.
The whole precinct is gathering momentum. Businesses are moving there which bring the eateries and hotels.
It was slippery at the scg against port because the surface was wet, it rained all morning.
The area around the stadium at homebush has improved, but it's still terrible. It's not a destination unless you live or work there.Using TapatalkComment

The ANZ surface is crap and will stay crap roof or not.
It gets roughed up by lots of NRL games, and occasional rugby tests where scrums are particually damaging.
The grass is too long for AFL, it suits the other codes and therefore won't change.
The players often talk about it being soft on top (long grass) and rock hard underneath. They tried to fix this, and the uneveness, by putting sand on for our recent games...Monumental failure.
This issue is enhanced by the sliding stands which sit over the wings where we see the endless slipping and sliding, regardless of studs.
Now they're talking of adding sliding stands to each end.
So we can then look forward to the substandard surface in the forward 50 areas around the goals, as well as the wings...That should make for a great spectacle.
The place is a dud... And if the snapshot on here is anything to go by, the vast majority of AFL fans prefer the SCG.Last edited by ernie koala; 19 June 2014, 02:19 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Swans throwing up another negotiating piece in to the mix.
Sydney Swans consider playing AFL games in CanberraComment

Hey Barry, have a look at Pridhams twitter and tell me how many want home games at ANZ.....I counted 1 so far.
You better get on there and make it 2, or was that you using a different name?Last edited by ernie koala; 19 June 2014, 03:56 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

We need to play some games at ANZ. ANZ is the Geographical Centre of Sydney. We are the Sydney Swans. If you want to totally give up on ANZ and the whole of Sydney, then we can rebrand ourselves to be the Eastern Suburbs Swans. We are for all of Sydney so let?s not give up a presence in the Geographical Centre of Sydney.Comment

And being in the majority does not make u right. Just look at who we elected PM for proof.
The SCG will never get a roof, so if you like dry weather footy. Vote ANZ
