Tom has shouldered a massive load in the past weeks and looked like he'd reached that point where exhaustion was more dominant than learning. I bet we see him again this season. GREAT to have Benny back as we need his hardness and drive against GWS niggling. And the Bud will love having Tippo there, too. Goodes back as the crumbed?

Now I'm excited for this game.

        I hope you like felafel!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Seems the right changes to me - harsh perhaps on Derrickx, but he's done a lot this season, and at very least needs a bit of a breather!

Great that Benny M is back - gives me much more confidence then without him. Gives us a bit of mongrel to take on the upstarts too if they get pushy and shovey!

You can bid in the Swans online auction for a Derickx number 19, signed indigenous round jumper, as worn on the day, sweat and all. Or indeed for any player's jumper. Current bid for number 19 is $300. Auction ends 7 July.

Unfortunately for Derrickx, he had his most average game last week, which opened a window for his dropping.
I dare say he'll get more opportunities though...

It'd be disappointing for Tom I'm sure, but if he'd set some realistic targets at the start of the season you'd have to think that playing 12 games and averaging around 20 hitouts would have exceeded them.

I'm not sure if we just gave him a one year contract? If so he's essentially guaranteed himself another season with the effort so far short of anything crazy occurring between now and the end of the year.

I'll have to check my piggybank.

Sorry for bagging Tom. It's nothing personal. In fact I really appreciate the tremendous effort he put in while Pyke and Tippett were injured.

It's a tough job being a ruckman. So much is expected and there are not many going around that do it well. I sincerely hope that Tom can make the improvement necessary to bring him up to higher standard. I don't think he's got the natural talent to do it, but perhaps with Steve Taubert's help I am proven wrong.

                        From post #1.

Just have to wait and see who gets the sub to see how I'm going with my predictions....

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Looking forward to seeing Andrew Bogut run around against the swannies this week for GSW, I'm a big fan
Jaksch will struggle with KT coming back in, he has been pretty dodgy at times in the seniors over the last few weeks. Jaksch will end up matching up against Goodes and Reid at times which will be a good challenge for him but good news for swans.

Last time no Goodes, Kizza, Tip & Hannas out of form. Tommy Mitchell was not right and we looked very lazy. I think we were lazy from the coaches box down the line.

We have gone for Pyke over Derrickx which I think is premature. I think Pykie is not quite ready yet and another game in the Twos would have been good.

Good to see Tip & Benny back Benny provides so much run along with Hannas and we have missed them both.

I think BJ should sub. He doesn't use the ball as well as Lloydy. His form has not been fantastic this season and I think Lloydy offers much more, if less flashy
